      Recording My Dreams

I dream often and vividly. I am attempting to achieve more lucid dreams, yet I have a sticking point when it comes to the first step(recording my dreams). I just can't motivate myself to record my dreams. I don't know why. I have my journal right next to my bed, yet when I wake from a dream I usually lie there for a second then drift back to sleep. Then when I wake again I lose much of the detail. Any suggestions? I know it sounds like I just don't have the determination but I wonder if there is a trick or technique to motivate myself to immediately record my dreams.

Just think of the reasons you want to LD, what you want to do and why. What its going to mean.... You want to LD?

GET THE BLOODY DJ FILLED IN!!

In all seriousness though, recording your dreams is going to help you remember your lucids and build dream recall. Can you imagine how much you'll kick yourself if your having lucid dreams but not actually remembering them? That would suck major ass!

I know how you feel, i often get unmotivated "oh that one was pretty vivid, ill jot it down later" - face it man, later NEVER comes and it doesn't get done. Try to make it your routine that you wake up, grab you DJ and make some scribbles. Even if its just a few short words that will help you remember in the morning.

I suffer with that too, bear in mind
you don't have to write a huge essay of a dream, I just write the key points that happened.
You could also try to voice record your voice as the DJ, it's quicker ^_^

It really is not imperative to record one's dreams. Just dream and there is no real need to hold on to past dreams. New ones will come.

The reason we record dreams though is to make our mind believe that we want to remember dreams. It improves recall.

Well what's the point if having dreams if you don't remember them? It's like having money that you hid somewhere and can't find.

Sounds like you just need a better dream journal.

      I have a question relating to DJ's...

Do you guys frequently find it helpful to go back and read about the dreams you recorded? Or do you just fill it in for the sake of filling it in and then forget about it?

I usually read my dream journal when I'm bored, but you don't have to read your past dreams to improve your recall.

Frequently? No. But whenever I feel unmotivated, i will look back at old dreams to remind myself how far i've come and why i wanted to start lucid dreaming.

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!
