Hi everyone,

Okay, where to begin......I'm a little nervous being here because I'm a bit older than most everyone else on here. But at the same time I'm happy to be here and hoping that Dream Views and it's members will provide me the knowledge and support I need to make lucid dreaming a reality.

I'm 49 yrs old and have not yet had a lucid dream, mainly because until about a year ago, I knew nothing about them. And when I did find out, it was quite by accident. I was just driving home from work and listening to George Noory's Coast to Coast radio program.

Mr. Noory's guest that night was talking about out-of-body experiences (OBE's) which I found interesting, so I did a little research and started reading Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman. In the book, it mentioned lucid dreaming as being a possible stepping stone to OBE's. Long story short, more research and now I am currently reading two books about lucid dreaming simultaneously: Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the Inner Self by Robert Waggoner and Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge & Howard Rheingold.

I've started keeping a dream journal, even though I've always been able to remember one or two dreams pretty well every night. I'm also doing reality checks during the day and telling myself over and over before I go to sleep at night that "when I have a dream, I'm going to realize I'm dreaming". So far, though, no luck. So any tips or pointers that anyone can give me would be very much appreciated. I'm trying to prove that you can teach an old dog new tricks!
