Newbie here...ready and willing to learn

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and also to exploring lucid dreaming. I have never had a lucid dream, but have been trying for about a month now. My husband, who has had lucid dreams since he was in about the 7th grade, has tried to help me achieve lucidity in my dreams but as he is a natural lucid dreamer, we have not had much luck. It usually turns out with him in my dreams telling me I am dreaming and me yelling at him that I am awake. Is this normal...or what is the best way to work from here...if there is one.

I have a few questions about things that I know will not come for quite some time, if ever...but i would like to know if within a lucid dream one can remember things that are otherwise blocked?

This seems to be a great site, from what I have explored over the past few weeks...and I look forward to getting to know you all more...or at least your dreams.

It's pretty cool that your husband is a natural lucid dreamer

All newbies (or everyone, for that matter) should keep a dream journal. As for your attempts to shared dream, that's pretty awesome ;P For your question, when you say 'blocked' do you mean things you cannot remember consciously? For that, yes, i would say so. For example, there are faces of people i do not remember clearly consciously, but in my dreams, i will be able to remember their face. (I'm not even really sure if that just made sense..)

Thanks for the reply...and yes that was exactly what I was asking about. I didn't know if anyone would get it as I am not always the best at explaining what is swimming around in my head. Thanks again for your answer

Thats absolutely great that you know someone who can achieve LDs on a regular basis.
Is he on the forums, just because hes a natural doesn't mean he's using all his ability, probably isn't : )

Anyways, welcome to the forums, if you're new, then I recommend reading as much as you can about LDing, wiki guides and user guides in DILD WILD and DEILD.

He actually is not on these forums but is interested in joining this one as I have shown him many things on here that interest him.

I also wanted to clarify something...my husband and I did not try what you called shared dreaming...as we did not try to dream together(in the same dream). When I said he has been trying to help me achieve lucidity...I meant that he would be awake and aware I was in REM and would start wispering or telling me in my ear that I was dreaming...it then translated into my dream and I began yelling at him in my dream. Sorry if that was confusing.

The best way to go (in my opinion) is with MILD or DILD.

You are lucky to have someone who can help you become lucid. You can remember amazing things in your dreams, but it is hard to direct it and even harder to trust it. We are very inventive when dreaming.
