      Weird Dream..

      Hello,

Usually i am myself in my dreams, you know moving my own waking life body.
but the dream i had last night kinda left my body cause in the dream i passed out and from then i saw my friends trying to get a doctor and i just saw myself lying there on the ground and do nothing.
never had that before, just wondering if someone else had a dream like that before?

      Hi Ruurd, welcome to Dreamviews!
About a year ago I has a nightmare and I was about to be murdered. I suddenly, watched myself in 3rd person be murdered. It was a really weird experience.

i have a lot of dreams in 3rd person, but never ones where i see my own body. then again, i never really see peoples faces in my dreams. or, at least i dont pay attention to them.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The evening hangs beneath the moon, a silver thread on darkened dune.
With closing eyes and resting head; I know that sleep is coming soon.

Upon my pillow, safe in bed,
A thousand pictures fill my head,

      I cannot sleep , my mids aflight;
and yet my limbs seems made of lead.

Heya Ruurd! Welcome to Dreamviews, always glad to see new faces. Seeing yourself in the 3rd person isn't all that uncommon. Some people have them more than others (I am about 30-50% 3rd person when I dream. Just a guess there) while people have almost nothing but those kind of dreams. That dream does sound rather interesting, though.

I read somewhere that one theory to people having 3rd person dreams was people who generally played a lot of 3rd person shooter-type games. A fellow Lucid Dreamer friend who is a big gamer has nothing but 3rd person dreams and myself who generally doesn't play computer games at all only has 1st person.
Just a theory, but interesting dream anyways Ruurd.

(That dream of seeing yourself murdered Mancon must have been terrifying)

Hmm...I agree with Bantam. I play a bunch of video games (though not shooters), and I often see myself in third person in dreams, even lucid ones. I'll bet it's because I'm used to controlling myself in the third person when I play video games. If you play video games, that might be the case for you too. If not, then maybe it was a coincidence. I've heard of several cases of people going into the third person when their dream body is killed or passes out. In any case, it's nothing to worry about.

By the way, sometimes you can still move when you're in the third person...it's quite strange.

Hm, that makes sense I suppose... except I have 3rd person dreams somewhat regularly and really don't play many games at all.

Under what conditions do you normally go into the third person? Like I said, I've heard several stories of people being in the third person when their dream body is seemingly unconscious or dead.

a few nights ago i dreamt that I was not myself, evidently I was my brother and the entirety of the dream was me (playing as my brother) just observing my actions and apparently being quite annoyed by them..............it was all very odd
