      Hi from Israel :)

Hey everyone, my name is Jonathan, I'm from Israel and I'm almost 17 years old.
I haven't had a lucid dream yet, but I intend to do so (or at least try to do so) very soon.
I'm kind of scared of trying a WILD because I don't want to go into sleep paralysis, so right now I've just started a dream journal and started doing RC's every once in a while. I'm hoping to do a DILD...

Anyway, that's about it, I hope I enjoy being on this site

Welcome Johnathan, your stay here will be a nice one im sure

Someone once posted on this site that 'Sleep Paralysis is ony scary when you are scared of it' which is true, if you arent scared of it, you wont be scared of it. Anyways, DILD is the best thing for beginners

Welcome to dreamviews. I'm glad you decided to keep a dream journal. It will really help when it comes to lucid dreaming. Many people are scared of WILD. There really isn't anything to be scared about in SP. It's just hallucinations. Whichever technique you choose, stick to it and don't give up.

      Hey Jonathan, welcome to Dreamviews!

Keeping a dream journal is a step in the right direction, in terms of recall. You want to be able to remember your normal dreams so you don't forget a lucid one.

And sleep paralysis isn't really that bad, although it can be a bit startling the first time you have it. At least you know what it is, though!
I had some sort of problem with narcolepsy a few years back, where I'd get episodes of sleep paralysis without knowing what it was. It terrified me because I didn't know what the heck was happening. Well, a few days after I had a random lucid dream and decided to join Dreamviews - I then learned what sleep paralysis (SP) entails and what it really is - just the process of falling asleep, albeit the symptoms can be a bit unnerving at times. Not all SP episodes are scary; some just have vibrations, sometimes you feel like you're floating... Once, I entered sleep paralysis and saw a fluffy white kitten on my bed. Now that was cute!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

The thing I'm scared about most is that when I start to hallucinate, I might want to stop, but I'm afraid I'll get to the point when you are paralyzed and can't move and then I'll panic...
I feel like if I try doing a WILD I would want someone I trust to be next to me while I'm in SP.

I was the same way; at first I was scared to WILD in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep, and only wanted to try it during the day, with someone in the house. But once you have one episode, all the mystery goes away and you can do it anytime. If worst comes to worst and you end up having 'scary' hallucinations, it'll be like having a nightmare. You know it's not real and that takes a lot of the edge off. If you do become too unnerved, change your breathing pattern - breathe faster (but don't hyperventilate! ) or take a deep breath, then a short breath. If that fails, just let go of any focus you have and drift off into normal sleep.

Alright that makes sense, but isn't it a good idea to let my parents know I'm doing this or something? I know there's no actual danger, but it could be psychologically dangerous. Anyway I think I might try doing a WILD tomorrow during the afternoon.

I wouldn't say there's a danger to it. I've had crazy SP episodes but it's done nothing to me; it's just like a dream memory now, and maybe not even that. You could let them know though, just so they're aware of what you're doing.

If you feel comfortable telling your parents sure why not. i told my siblings they thought i was weird now whenever i ask them if they wanna here about my dream they just leave the room. Lol

I read in a book that sp is when your body remains dorment for a long time thus making your body think it is asleep 9 your mind is wide awake thats how wilds occur ) which is why u cant move its kinda like your body is turned off and is set to turn on when the mind wakes again.Little does your body know the mind is still awake

Hi Jonathan welcome to DV its a great place as you prob already know. Starting with DILD is a good idea, just stay firm with your belief that you can do it. The more positive you think, the more positive the outcome. Good luck

Technically, SP naturally occurs every single time you fall asleep, but usually it goes in the following order.

You're in bed --> You go unconscious --> Your body isn't moving --> SP to stop your body from acting out dreams --> Non-lucid

When WILDing, you switch the order up a bit.

You're in bed --> You pretend to go unconscious --> You make sure your body isn't moving --> SP to stop your body from acting out dreams --> Lucid

And that's the gist of it. SP is both the unconsciously-occurring paralysis, and that which occurs when you're still awake.

some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Happy to help, and good luck! Remember that WILDing may take a few tries to get right, since it's a slightly more advanced form of LDing, but don't give up. You can do it.

Welcome looks like you have a good start with the DJ.
Just start with DILD, MILD, WBTB, etc. Try not to start WILD yet
I am sure you will enjoy it here~

Lande, WILD take awhile I usually just use the DILD method partly because the WILD takes really long and partly because I like the element of suprise The DILD Brings.
