HELPPPPPP Me
Hi everyone, I am fairly new to lucid dreaming but I keep having the same problem.
It has occured about 3-4 times in my dreams.
I have never had a lucid dream but the problem that i'm having is that when I am having a usual dream something will occur to me such as someone will say 'you're not actually awake, have a lucid dream' and then I say ok. But I dont turn lucid!. I just sort of ignore it and 'pretend' to be lucid. can someone helppppp! thanks

Hi 03tommy! Welcome to Dreamviews!
The reason your having this problem is because when your dreaming the logic center of your brain turns off. That's why when someone in your dream tells you your dreaming, you don't take it seriously! The best thing I could recommend is to keep doing constant reality checks throughout the day and become more aware of what's going on around you. If you are more aware then you will begin to realize that your in a dream when your dreaming. If you keep at it pretty soon that problem will become a good thing.
Good luck!

Yeah, when you're dreaming, the logic part of your brain is shut off. If you're using WBTB, do some simple math problems and explain to yourself why you are (or aren't) dreaming. You should also take awareness into account; that is what causes lucidity - absolutely anything can happen in a dream but if you're not aware, you won't notice these things. Even if nothing unusual happens and you're just walking around your house in the dream, awareness will also allow you to become lucid in that dream. So practice being conscious of what's around you, and what you're doing in real life. Accompany this with RCs. Really ask yourself if what you're doing, and where you are is plausible, and observe things using your sense of touch, sight, smell, etc.
You're on the right track though! Dreaming about, well, dreaming is a good sign that your mind is on LDing.

welcome buddy :) see your brain is accepting the importance of lucid dreams to you. When i was new i was seeing my dream journal and i was journling in dreams but i didn't notice i was dreaming.Congrats you are half way through, keep up with your RCs and techniques and one night :)

Damn I know exactly what you mean. I haven't been lucid but I had something similar where I was in a dream I didn't want to end so I looked at my hands and back to the dreamscape to stabilize the dream(I read this in Waggoner's book). I remembered this dream during the day and I was like holt sh*t! But I can't remember being lucid at any moment during the dream.
Keep it up though!

It's actually a very good sign. A lot of people start to dream about dreaming, or have DCs tell them they're dreaming a little while before they start to have lucids. It shows that your mind is on the right subject anyway. It should happen soon.

This means you are on the right path :) I've had many dreams like this, they are sure frustrating.
But it's a sign of a lucid dream in the near future! Like others said, it means its on your mind, which is a good sign.
Just keep up with you're doing, and try to concentrate more before bed on "true" lucidity

:welcome: Check out the tutorials on DILD, reality checks, and WBTB, those tend to be the most useful for when starting out :) If you have any questions, ask :)
