First lucid last night!
Hey everyone, last night I had my first lucid thanks to DV! even though it only lasted 15 seconds. I think all the viewing of lucid topics on this forum must have transferred over and caused me to do a RC. So thankyou DV! I was also wondering if anyone can tell me why it only lasted 15 seconds as i did stabilize myself by inspecting a light fitting and the roof around it. Could it be that when I began to fly I had my eyes closed?

First of all, big congrats! (and :welcome: to dv) :) remember the first one is the hardest, from now on ld's will come far more easily. It is perfectly normal that the first lucid dream is very short, as the excitement just wakes you up. So in your next lucid dream just calm down for a moment and you can do whatever you want to, flying and eyes closing included of course ;)
cheers

Welcome and great job :)
The LDs should come with more practice, although you did stabilise it is highly likely that your first may not be extremely long. Keep going and you will eventually get the hang of it.
I have heard that closing your eyes can end lucidity for some people, but others use it to teleport or summon

Welcome to DV! Most people wake up from excitement within the first few seconds, or when doing something awesome from the first time. You either woke up because you were so excited about flying, or because you closed your eyes. I would say it was the second one. If you close your eyes in a dream, there's nothing for the brain to focus on and you will quickly transfer into darkness. This can be used like LucidAvenger said. You "remove" the current dream scene and just imagine up a new one. Same goes for spinning.
Practice techniques and you'll have alot more. Now you know you can get one, and it seems like you have an easy time doing just that, so don't spoil that gift! :P
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask here or in a PM.

Welcome to DV :welcome:
nice job on getting an LD :) :goodjob:
it could possibly be that you closed you eyes, when I do that in a dream, it usually fades. Just remember there is no reason to close your eyes or blink because you are dreaming ^^
keep up the good work, if you have any questions, you can PM me, other Dream Guides/members, or ask around on the forum :)
good luck, looks like you are off to a good start.

Thats great work to have a lucid within, what, a week? I'm 3 months into this stuff, not one. Well I had one years ago, but that doesn't count for me. As people say, the rest of the will come a lot easier, as you now know what one feels like.
I would say the excitement got to you and you slipped out of it. Closing your eyes I very much doubt was the cause you you getting kicked. Lots of people close their eyes to help imagine new dream scenes and characters. Just take more time to stabilize next time.
