Haunted by my dreams and need help...

Hi, all! I am new to this forum and found you through a search. I love analyzing my own dreams, and the dreams of family members and friends. Lately, however, I have had some trouble with my dreams and meanings.

I have always been a lucid dreamer, and I have always remembered most of my dreams, even dreams from when I was as young as four or five. I am in my late 40's. Normally, I go through a spate of eerie, dark dreams a few times a year, and they stop. For the past six months, I have had eerie, dark dreams every night. I normally dream in color, vivid, bright color. Now, my dreams are dark, gray, no color. No sunshine, always night time or dark. Family, friends, co-workers from past jobs, dead family members, dead friends, dead co-workers...they all are mixed, intermixed, mingling around in my dreams. Almost like I am walking through, I don't know, some kind of limbo maybe, where everyone (the dead AND the living) is just milling around in a nameless, hard to place building, or dungeon, or huge elevator, parking lot, car driving through rising waters, houses that aren't familiar...I remember them all, in vivid detail every morning, and they haunt me through the day. Some are so vivid, it takes a few days to stop thinking about them. If I take nite-quil or something similar, the dreams are still there, but I don't remember them quite so vividly in the morning. What is wrong with me???

Have you tried asking why you are being shown that dream, to your dream? Or to one of the deceased?

Normally when there is something in a dream that is scaring me, I try engaging it in combat. Remember that this is a dream, and one of the most basic forms of dream control is superpowers. You may find that you can shoot energy beams from your hands or be able to draw a weapon. T

his does not seem like the type of dream where you would want to do that. Try talking to these people. Ask them why you are having these dreams.

Another option may be to try to change the dreams altogether. If you want to change a dream completely, close your eyes, spin, and envision being on a mountaintop or beach,or another planet. someplace where these people won't haunt you. Or, try adding some friends to your dream.

Yet another thing you could do is just shout out "Full color" and the dream may switch to color. Try shouting out other things like "Stop these nightmares" and "It is now morning" Voice commands can be powerful in dreams.

You say you are lucid most nights. You have the power to change your dreams. You could try these strategies, or make up your own. Really I'd rather have these dreams every night than all my fragments etc.

Thanks Typho, for your input...I will try these suggestions too...It might seem odd, but I've never really tried to change these dreams, I can, quite easily, I just normally don't unless there is something so frightening I can't deal with it, like a loved one dying or disappearing, and then I walk through the dream and change it...I never thought about changing these limbo like dreams to something better and am kind of excited now.....I'm a little scared to ask them what they want though, because I am afraid the dead people in my dreams are waiting for me..., and I'm not ready to go with them yet...
