Hi. Did I had a lucid dream last night?

I've read the tips on the site concerning how to get lucid dreams some two weeks ago and I thought about it on occasion but although I've dreamt I never had the experience of lucidity until last night.
I was in the middle of a dream and at one time I was in a restaurant located at a hotel when I suddenly see my dog, who died some years ago. I immediately realized that I should be dreaming because of the impossibility. So I kept walking and while I was in a corridor full of doors I remembered a past girlfriend. A moment afterwards I heard the sound of a ping-pong ball hitting the floor and I saw it standing close to a door. She used to tell a lousy joke concerning a ping pong ball so I opened the door and saw her and her brother inside the room.
From there the dream started turning slightly erotic and at one time I thought that her brother should go away and puff, he wasn't there in the room anymore. We started making out then until she said something (I won't reproduce it here) that struck me as completely weird. Next moment I simply woke up in bed and although I couldn't remember what happened before I saw my deceased dog I still can recall what happened afterwards.
Was this a lucid dream? I had that initial moment of conciousness but afterwards what I recall is that I had no lucid control, things simply come up to my mind and they happened.

it's simple really, if you were at any time aware of the fact that you were in a dream, it was a lucid dream. you can lose the lucidity and forget that you're dreaming, but as long as you realized you were dreaming at some point, it was a lucid dream.

Well, thanks for the answer then

I will go over the tutorials again because it was a really intense and new feeling when I woke up. I remember that I had attained some lucidity in the past but I always woke up ("oh I must be dreaming" *puff*).

i don't think that counts as a lucid dream. in a lucid dream, you are fuly aware of your dreaming and take advantage of that to create some interesting situations. for example, you are in a dream, and are living in a city you have never even been to, so you think "this can't be real, it must be a dream" then you're like: "whoa, im dremaing i can do whatever the hell i want" and then you do whatever the hell you want.

Looks like a valid point. The reason why I asked if this was a lucid dream was because I clearly remembered being conscious that I was dreaming at a precise moment but afterwards I recall I didn't seem to use that knowledge to my advantage. There were events that took place afterwards that were clearly bizarre, to say the least, but I accepted them without a second thought.

Still I achieved lucidity at one point. The question is if that's enough to classify it as a lucid dream (like Paperdoll said). In any case I suspect that this might be one of those issues where people exercise their right to disagree

Btw, I am 30, from Portugal and I am a jornalist (although not working on the area at the moment).

well, okay, you were lucid at one point. you can call it a lucid dream, though technically you were lucid only for a very short time. you could also say you had a dream in which you were lucid for a very short time. or you could say, that in a dream you had a "lucid moment". the list goes on, it really doesn't matter, it just depends on exactly how technical you want to get.
