WBTB and WILD
So i've been trying both the WTBT and WILD techniques to induce a lucid dream and i'm not having any success. I'm always reading up on the techniques and such because i'm really interested in lucid dreaming, so i know about the RC's, keeping the RC's conscious so you'll do them subconsciously etc. . . but i'm just not having any success. I have even tried using relaxing music, or the brain wave music to help me go to sleep. Usually it will just annoy me and not help, or i'll fall asleep and not even realize it. Any tips?

First of all, welcome to the forum :D
So your problem is losing consciousness. You need to find an "anchor" to keep you grounded and keep your mind awake. Music obviously doesn't work for you, maybe white noise would, like a fan. You could also try using dull pain, or some kind of physical sensation to keep you conscious. Like lying on a marble, or taping 2 of your fingers together, etc.
Find something that works for you.

Can you explain the "Dull pain" idea? Also, once SP sets in, wouldn't the pain or the feeling of the tape and the fingers pressed together go away?

Yeah I read about it in BillyBob's WILD tut, he goes pretty in depth about the anchors.

Basically the pain is there to give your mind something to remember as you let your thoughts wander. You're right, it is difficult to remember what you were focusing on when SP sets in, so it has to be something good that'll work for you and not take too much attention to remember.
An example of a bad bad anchor (for most people) would be to focus on your breathing, because it is hard to keep track of with all the sounds and hallucinations going on. Not to mention your breathing may speed up and become erratic (which it does during REM sleep).

Fan seems like a good one. sounds would be the best thing as its the only sense you can really use after SP with your eyes closed, lay on your back. Just my opinion.

I tried the white noise method last night but I think it kept me awake. The pain one sounds terrible though. What would you consider to be a position for inducing a non-blood-flow-blocking dull ache?
