Question Sleep paralysis or a dream???

Last night i could only recall one dream after setting my alarm about 5 hours after going to bed. I woke up and stayed up for about 45 mins, just reading about LD, then tried just going back to sleep and telling my self to try and recall my dreams and to recognize i'm dreaming.

I don't remember what happened next so im assuming i fell asleep. Next thing i know im lying in bed, belly up( i never sleep belly up) and i just feel this vibration in my ears and i could swear i had my eyes closed but i could see the roof! I also felt a little pressure on my chest.

I was fully aware of the feeling and I remembered these were side effects of sleep paralysis (i think...). I tried all the things ive read about WILD, trying to be passive about the images and sounds, and trying to move my dream body, but then i just blacked out after a few minutes and woke up in the morning, not recalling anything else...

I've only just read about SP and what its like, but never really experienced it, and ive never really tried WILD because it just seems to advanced for me right now (not having been lucid before).

Can someone please tell me if what i experienced was SP or a very strange dream???
And does this mean i should try to WILD??

Hmm...this seems like a tough one. You will likely have to make the final verdict. I'll try to help you get there . It sounds to me like a couple different things could have happened...
      1. You could have fell asleep initially, woke up very briefly, and then started to fall back to sleep again. This is when SP could have set in. All of this could have happened in what seemed like seconds. You then attempted to be casual, which is good, but was a little too casual and lost consciousness. With a WILD, it is a little tricky to balance how focused you must be. You can't be too focused, or you won't be able to fall asleep/transition. At the same time, you need to be focused just enough so that you don't lose consciousness. It may take a bit to get that "feel" for WILDing. Just takes a bit a of practice.

      2. You could have had a dream about WILDing. If you have read information about it, you could have fabricated this in your dream. However, your description sounded very accurate to common "side effects" of SP.

I would suggest trying out WILD for sure. It is best if practiced with WBTB or day time naps. The beauty with a WILD attempt is, even if you fail and lose consciousness. Your mind was on lucid dreaming all the way up until the point in which you fell asleep. This can lead to vivid dreams and DILDs as well. Good luck to you and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!
