Question Birdy is the new guy on the block.

I've never had a lucid dream before, but I have experienced sleep paralysis once, by accident.

Attempting to WILD for my first lucid dream. I seem to be having some trouble attaining sleep paralysis, whether before sleeping or after 5 hours of sleep.

I'm using the counting while inhaling, "I'm dreaming" while exhaling technique and keeping the darkness behind my eyelids in the front of my mind like Yoshi.

I reach 250 count and my body is hard to move after it, but I don't think I've gotten near sleep paralysis.

Can someone help me with attaining SP?

Hi and welcome! Most people wouldn't want to experience SP ever again after their first time, but you've realised that it's an amazing phenomenon, good for you! This will help you with any fears and doubts you might have while trying to WILD or DEILD. The trick with WILD is to let your mind go, enough for your body to fall asleep but you will remain conscious. Perhaps try another visualization, meditation or just do it when taking a nap.

Also, if WILD doesn't work well for you, I suggest you take a look at the other techniques. MILD with WBTB is a popular one. Or if you're just after the SP, then try to lie completely still after waking up from a dream and go for a DEILD. I always get cool spasms in my arms in SP during a DEILD.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask, or check out the WILD section: Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams (WILD)

      Keep on dreaming!

I got really bad spasms when trying for an SP last night. Also some eye twitching and a little bit of paranoia.

I might have been closer than I thought.

Yeah. All of a sudden you will be in a dream, just try to ignore the feelings. Even though you know it's all in your head, they are still very uncomfortable.

Spasms are normal!? I have a question, do those spasms go away quickly because last night I was meditating for a WILD and had HI but there was a terrible spasm in my left arm, so I had to simply lie down and WILD like that. I successfully WILDed, but only lying down. I was very close to a WILD while meditating.

I get them every time. I'm not sure if they're normal exactly, but it's quite scary since spasms are actually possible compared to a demon sitting on your chest.

Afternoon nap time. Not giving up. I will hit sleep paralysis and at least TRY to transition into a dream.

Yup, failed. And it was a WBTB this time too.

I almost hit sleep paralysis, closer than before. But I think I've hit a brick wall.

I lied there for what seems like forever and my whole body became stiff and comfortable. I wasn't feeling the need to move or adjust positions. I also couldn't feel anything with it, such as the bed underneath me.

But when I finally gave up, I managed to sit up immediately even though movement felt extremely weird. 2 RC's, not dreaming.

Dang it! I'm almost paralyzed but can move if I want to! How do I get through this barrier?

Tonight I'm going to try something different. Instead of mentally focusing on the paralysis of my body, I'm going to try and "forget" about it.

Also I will visualize myself standing underneath a large tree in a field during sunset. I'm trying for visualization of all 6 senses until it becomes my dream.

I haven't had much success with rolling my eyes upward as if to look at a dot between my forehead. Supposedly that helps sleep paralysis though.

Yeah, you need to put the effects of the SP aside. Relax even though you hear/feel scary things. Just remember to always RC whatever you do after that. Just relax and imagine a nice summer day on the country or something like that. I believe in you, good luck!

Tried twice last night. Once before going to sleep and once after waking up in the middle of the night.

Nope, first try was pretty terrible. Second try... it was the closest attempt yet. It took 40 minutes though and in the end, I could still move, but when I did it was difficult and I felt dizzy.

Think I'm gonna visit the WILD forums for help on SP.

Hmm. Learning how to WILD successfully can take a while. Don't give up! Yeah look into the WILD section. You'll find help from more experience WILD'ers as I'm more of a MILD person myself.
