sleep paralysis with decision to wake bed mate

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Situation: I've had a history of sleep paralysis with all the characteristics you may have heard described before. It's been a few years since this has happened and suddenly is happening again. I attribute the return of this to an increase is stress in my life.

The difference: Two nights ago I was going through a typical sleep paralysis dream state that turned not so typical for me. During the dream I became sort of aware. I realized that the only way to escape the dream since I couldn't wake myself up was to wake my husband. I made a conscious decision to yell and wake him so he could in turn wake me. It worked.

I asked him if I was moving. He couldn't remember. I asked him if he could tell what I was saying. He couldn't. (I was shouting his name and "help" alternately). I asked him how loud I was. He said it was mumbling but very fast. I felt as if I had been screaming.

My question is: Is this lucid dreaming? I thought lucid dreaming was controlling your dreams. I was completely unable to control inside my dreams but was able to control outside (by waking him up so he could wake me).

      Any thoughts?

I may be just a beginner, but after reading through tutorials and countless methods/experiences, i'd say this was just as you said it was: Sleep paralysis.
If i recall correctly, this is induced when your mind awakens while REM (Rapid Eye Movement) is taking place.
Basically your mind is awake but your body is asleep. As you said, it could have something to do with stress? Try to relax your life a bit
