Hopefully kicking nightmares to the curb...

And, hopefully, gonna have a kickass time while doing so!

My name is Jared. Over the last several months (ever since my ex-fiance and I split up, I blame the fact that for the first time in two years I'm sleeping in a bed alone) I have been plagued with nightmares. I'll wake up screaming in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat.

While at first I considered taking sleep aids, I really dislike taking man-made substances to simply get a full nights sleep. So, I began looking at other means.

While herbal supplements work, all they do is let me stay asleep and make the nightmares less intense, they do not actually prevent the nightmares.

Doing a web search I stumbled across lucid dreaming. A few other concepts (shared dreaming, etc) sound kickass in theory, although I'm not sure if they'd work. I'm willing to try anything though. Dream control just seems so kickass.

I agree with your focus on dream control, lucid or not, as opposed to chemical sleep aids. Time to stand up for yourself and fight back! You might also consider doing some light meditation or guided relaxation (see YouTube) in the evenings.

Hi Jared! Sorry to hear you're in a tough spot in life atm. Dreams are greatly affected by how we feel. While I was having a hard time in my relationship, I could barely sleep, all my dreams had an anxiety to them and I also had alot of nightmares.

The solution I have for you is to accept that it might take a while for them to go away, but they WILL go away. When you start feeling happier, and not as worried while awake. You will definitely start having more happy dreams.

Lucid Dreaming is a wicked cool experience, and you can use it for alot of things. As a hobby or to search for answers. Talk to your subconscious etc.

There are alot of guides you can read, and I suggest you take a look at the different tutorials in the Wiki - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or any of the other Dream Guides. Welcome to DV!
