So first off, I am new to lucid dreaming; I've known about it for years but never seriously started to try until like 2 weeks ago.
So I've been reading up a lot on it, the different methods, started a dream journal and my dream recall has improved a little; I'll remember parts of a dream every couple or three days. I do reality checks regularly now, trying to enter DILD.
But now I've been looking at WILD, and I wanna try that too.
So keep in mind I've only done this two nights in a row, which I realize is still very new and that most people have to practice for a long time to get into lucidity with this method. I also realize that people develop personal little "tricks" on their own that work for them, besides the standard, more general methodology.
All that said, I want to make sure I'm on the right track and practicing/attempting right, so if people could please critique my attempts I would much appreciate it!
Here goes:
The first night, two nights ago. After sleeping for about 4:30 hours and waking up by alarm clock, I lay flat on my back on my bed, naked, (I always sleep in the nude) have the ceiling fan on, windows and bedroom door closed. I don't normally sleep on my back ever; it's a very uncomfortable sleeping position for me and I normally sleep on my right side.
I focus on my breathing, three seconds in, about 2 seconds out, mentally counting as I do so. I keep my limbs completely motionless, eyes closed and trying not to move them. Gradually I start to feel, starting in my toes and fingers, this really warm tingly feeling, sort of numb, and it spreads over my whole limbs. I've read with WILD this is the beginning sign of your body rather than mind falling asleep, and that then you get a really strong feeling after about 25 minutes or so (I think it mustve been like 20 for me) that you HAVE to shift your body to be more comfortable, but if you can control it then your body gets really really heavy and then you start to see stuff and get into a dream.
Problem is, I can't get to that "heavy" part; the best I could do was on the first night, but not the second, was that my whole body felt really warm and tingly and I had little muscle spasms and a feeling to move, which I resisted, but then my muscles just got all tense and I wasn't relaxed anymore. I think I could maybe start to see images, like I started to see white and then grey in front of my eyes, thinking that's a good sign.
My mind also wanders WAY too much, like last night I had to keep restarting the count because my mind goes crazy around to videogames and what's gonna happen tomorrow, and movies and random crap it's extremely annoying. (I don't have ADD or anything though, I'm just not a good sleeper.)
So, any advice would be much appreciated on how the WILD method!
Like, what should this feel like at each point, and how can I fall asleep the right way for this.
Thank you! (sorry kinda lengthly post)
