Thread: Saw inception and want to try lucid dreaming again

Hello everyone,

I used to be into lucid dreaming a couple years ago, was even able to have a couple lucid dreams where I knew I was dreaming, but then decided its too hard because of my insomnia issues. However, after seeing the movie inception tonight, it has sparked my curiosity once again.

The main thing I am interested in is the concept of accessing deeper levels of your consciousness, is that possible? Like the dream within the dream concept. I know there is such a thing as false awakening, but does the time really go slower each level you go deeper? If so, is it possible to get as deep as 5-10 levels and live a full life within it, while 5min passes in reality?

Anyways, even if such a thing is not possible, I am looking forward to learning lucid dreaming again

level4 i had the same question yesterday after seeing inception (which was really the definition of awesome-ness :p). I guess there is some time difference when you 're dreaming, but i don't quite believe there is a possibility of going many "levels" down and especially on purpose. Yet if that is possible it is really dangerous i guess... I remember in the movie they used some really strong drugs to keep dreaming so: 1) i don't think these specific drugs exist and 2) if they do exist i doubt if someone would be able to use them so often. And there was that issue about not waking up when dead, but i 'm not sure if that's even a real issue or something invented to serve the movie's purpose. Yet these are all random thoughts that came to me (and there are much more).

I am still new to the whole dream issue, so let someone experienced answer for sure.

99% of Inception was movie magic. I wouldn't put too much stock into the "dream within a dream within a dream within a holy-shit-time-lasts-forever" concept.
