      Am I doing it right?

Hi everyone. I, like many others, first became aware of lucid dreaming due to Inception. So, I decided to get on the internet and do some research on actual lucid dreaming. I've been a bit of a lurker on this site for the past week, but I've decided to make an account to get serious about lucid dreaming. My one question right now is basically if I'm doing everything right to get started on Lucid Dreams. I'm:

      -keeping a DJ
      -performing RC's randomly
-repeating my mantra before sleep and randomly through the day

Is this all I need to do to get started on DILD's? I'm also going to try WBTB's on the weekends, but I can't during the week due to school. Thanks for any help you can offer me.

That is an excellent start. If you are going to be starting off with DILD, you will also want to look into methods on how to improve your "awareness" levels. Doing so will help you greatly in obtaining lucidity, as-well as in the real world!

Yes, that is what you need. But don't forget that RCs do not make you become lucid, awareness do: when you do a RC, question about your current state - are you dreaming or not ? The RCs are there for confirmation.

How would you all recommend I improve my overall awareness. Right now all I'm doing is occasionally looking around and really questioning if what I'm seeing is real, and sometimes when I notice something ordinary that I usually ignore, I'll take the time to study and make sure it actually makes sense. Is this a good start?

A tip I really liked was this:

Throughout the day randomly stop and just take a look around you and take the time to really see in detail what is there. If you are the kind of person who is always going from point a to point b and always preoccupied...That'll transfer over to your dreams. So try, every once in awhile, to really just soak in what's around you. If you are at work take a look at the office and soak in how everything is laid out. How your desk feels. The color of the carpet.
As children we believe anything is possible. As adults, we need to remember it.

      Like jasonresno said, Also-
Just thinking about your awareness helps make you more aware, take note that you are are conscious, that you are awake...
