      Need help WILD'ing... Super frustrated.

I feel incredibly close to successfully Wild'ing

I have no idea what stage im in, if its sleep paralysis or what.

Basically heres the run down. (this was attempted in an afternoon nap) I got into my bad and rolled on my side, comfortable, I laid completely still.

after about 5-10 minutes i felt the numbness kick in, my body felt as if it was part of my bed, or if it was touching other parts of my body.

in a nutshell, my arms and legs get weird feeling and they feel as if they are just in odd positions, when they are clearly not.

I also want to point out that during this entire experience, although it FEELS like my arms are locked, I can ALWAYS move them if i just try to. im never actually paralyzed.

about 20 minutes in my entire body gets waves of tingles. my eyes stay close this entire time. However I cant focus on just one thing now. When before I imagined myself walking down steps, counting each step slowly, now I cannot focus on that alone. Its just too difficult to maintain focus on JUST that.

Eventually I spin. this spinning phase seems to last a while too. its not dizzying, its almost enjoyable. I just feel like my head is spinning in circles, only spins counter clockwise also, never clockwise. I also feel as if im being tugged a certain direction here.

Songs play in my head, that I heard throughout the day or that I enjoy, this isnt hypnagogic, this is literally my mind just playing a part of a song, I really try and supress this because im not sure if its good or not.
about 30 minutes in(im estimating) i start falling in and out of sleep. Without knowing how the thought even started, I find myself doing something, i cant recall any vivid details about it, but i know i find it going way very very shortly, and leaving me with some sort of physical sensation due to it.

For example, I found myself in a jungle gym, on a pull up bar. I went upside down, and then rested my legs on the bar, as if to hang upside down, holding myself up with my legs. The moment the backs of my knees touched the bar the imagery went away and i felt a strong pressure, almost a slap against the back of my legs, like I had felt it actually happen. This slowly dissipated.

Its in this stage that I get stuck. normally imagery comes by and i fall into this dream like movie, and then immediately I pop out of it because I notice its fake or something. and then its just me laying in bed, with complete control over my thoughts and what I think about. theres no difficulty in focusing on anything. its like ive woken up but my body still feels numb. after what seems like an unbearable amount of time it MIGHT happen again.

On rare occasions my eyes start fluttering, and i can barely keep them shut. its like what id imagine REM to be. And then sometimes I get intense flashes of color, mostly whites, in a strobe effect. this lasts like a minute and a half before it goes away completely.

I KNOWWWW im close to SOMETHING. I just can never seem to get there! i lay down for like an hour max before I give up. Please tell me what im doing wrong!

Edit: Also occasionally my fingers or toes twitch and its weird. sometimes my legs twitch. Lol, even one of my Butt cheeks did a weird flexing twitch thing earlier... What is that?

It sounds like you're close, the images you see are probably HI (hypagogic imagery), and dream scenes appearing. And about the twitching, I do that alot too. It might not stop no matter how relaxed you are, but it's nothing to worry about. Since it's involuntary, it won't keep you from WILDing. Once you get to the stages where you see HI, keep relaxing. Imagine tactile sensations and continue to breathe. You should get a WILD soon enough.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

What do you mean by tacticle sensation?

also when trying to stay relaxed.. how will I know for sure if Im going into a dream? a lot of people say you can just roll out of your body into your dream, but... Im not sure how literal Im supposed to take that.

Tactile = feeling. Imagine touching sand, walking barefoot along a cactus, rubbing your hand against a brick wall, or anything that invokes a strong sense of touch.

I've only WILDed a few times, but from my experiences, you'll notice a distinct shift in your thoughts as the dream solidifies around you. You could also imagine opening your eyes (but don't actually do it, in case you're still awake), and you should see the scenery. After all, sometimes when you enter a dream your eyes will still be closed. It's happened to me before.

one last question. If I wanted to try and WILD at night rather than during a nap, how long do you have to wait? do you need to wait the 4-6 hours for REM or do you have to WBTB?

Well, WBTB is when you wake up after 4-6 hours of sleep, stay awake for a while (but not so long you're fully awake), and then get back to bed to WILD or fall asleep. I recommend either that or taking a nap.

It's hard to WILD if you wake up after 4-6 hours of sleep without doing a WBTB.
