So I'll probably leave the specifics to the strong WILDers like OpheliaBlue, Xanous, and the all-powerful paigeyemps.
First, can you describe when you are performing your WILD? It sounds like you might be trying at the beginning of the night. While this is certainly possible (Xanous has done it), it's usually thought of as pretty advanced stuff.
WILDs (and, in fact, nearly all lucid dreaming techniques) are much, much easier after a WBTB. This involves sleeping for about 5-6 hours, waking up for a while (perhaps 30 minutes), and then going back to bed performing your chosen induction technique. This makes lucidity far more likely. I have only a small number of LDs that didn't come coupled with some form of WBTB. It's that powerful. Again, you don't have to do it, but it makes for a much smoother ride.
Even if you have trouble during a WILD attempt, a strong ADA practice will give you a shot at a DILD. Anyhow, maybe walk us through what your attempts are like, when you perform, and how long you've been at it with this technique of WILDs in general. I'm sure we can get you pointed in the right direction.
