What are the troubles of learning such abilities (social, mentally, etc) ? How do you realize them and how did you get over these road blocks?
I'm also have a lot of trouble learning how to meditate so any alternatives to this then just laying still and breathing? Been trying for the last year and a half with no real results.
the idea is to slowww your mind down...
for starters try the whole counting backwards from 20 while feeling yourself becoming more and more comfortable... relaxing every part of your body one step at a time... imagine yourself sinking into your bed etc etc... pull your conscious into the back of your head.
you have to be able to clear your mind... keep relaxing yourself and focus on keeping your breathe.
as for developing those abilities the biggest roadblock is the desire to develop those abilities.
don't desire them , they will come to you with meditation and patience.
Take the imagining a step further, why not try a visualization meditation? There's a lot of different visualization meditations and different things you can do with them. You can imagine a peaceful setting in nature to deeply relax you, and then once settled in this environment you can imagine meeting your subconscious. You can imagine a color or other objects that relate to a specific chakra, and so on and so on.

You can focus on your goals but aslong as you expect something specific to happen you are running at risk of derailing or deluding yourself.
In my opinion, the major road block of psychic abilities are genetics, however it has been shown that the general population still have within themselves a basic psychic capacity. Remote viewing for example seems to be something everyone is capable of.
For this to come forward one has to become aware on the subtle levels. One's abilities are already there but one must listen to them because mind chatter outnoises them, hence practicing trance-meditation is useful.
