No need to delve into the potential meanings and interpretations of the words, I think we should very well all know what I'm talking about. To put it into simple words, I'm referring to things that are currently unexplainable by physics, or any other established science for that matter.
That being said, my personal belief is that the world is full of such things. And that such things, as intriguing as they might be at times, are not actually "supernatural" or "paranormal" but rather are simply not detectable and explainable by what we have today. If you could bring radiation or modern telecommunication hundreds or thousands of years back into history, those things would without a doubt be considered supernatural or even magical back then.
You know, just like ghosts and all that stuff might actually exist. Maybe ghosts, spirits and souls are actually some kind of exotic matter that builds up something conscious, matter we can't detect yet like we couldn't detect Higgs bosons until a short time ago.
Enough of that though and onto my personal story.

I have only 1 experience in my life that I just simply can not explain with normal science of today. Sure, like pretty much all humans I had experienced some creepy places, and unexplainable noises here and there, but all those things can have various explanations. Here's the one thing I can't explain.
My story happened in a place I lived in for quite some time, it's a town in Germany called Marl, it's in NRW.
Me and some friends loved to take strolls around the forest during the night, and there was this one particularly weird abandoned house. Now this is not going to turn the probably expected "We broke in and saw ghosts" turn.
Actually my story happened half way between my home and that abandoned house, I was alone and I was on my way back home after going to (not in) that house and relaxing. I can even give an absolutely precise location: 51.666313, 7.062002
You could put it into Google maps or so, or just go with me saying it's close to a highway, pretty much on the middle of a small field. It happened during a night, sometime around or before 2010 I think (I wish I would've written down the precise date...). I was listening to music, not really hearing the outside world, and I was dashing across that field, taking a shortcut, my eyes mostly focused on the ground as not to stumble. It was sometime between 1:00 and 4:00 I think. Almost right in the middle of the field I came to a full stop as I saw 3 pitch black dogs in front of me, like a maximum of 2 meters away from me when I stopped. Needless to say I was shocked at first, because meeting 3 dogs alone in the night while I essentially just ran in their direction seems dangerous.
Those dogs however were really pitch black, as in they did not reflect light, even though the moon lit up the place enough for any normal black dog to not appear like that kind of perfect black silhouette. I could rather feel their eyes than I could see them. Those dogs or whatever they were however barely acknowledged my existence, with only 1 of them even bothering to look at me. No growling, no malicious intent or anything of the likes, it just looked at me and what I was doing. Actually it appeared neither scary nor scared itself. Reflexively after I had stopped I turned 45° to the left and started slowly walking around them. Once I took my eyes off just for a second to confirm the direction I was heading to, they were gone, and believe me the field was far too big and flat for any normal dogs to just get out of sight in a bare second. Any normal dog would've at least taken 5 seconds or so to get out of sight. By then I had also removed my earphones, but still heard nothing.

Naturally I've been asking myself what I had seen.
Normal dogs? Extremely unlikely. Not just would dogs in almost all cases behave substantially different, they also couldn't have gotten out of sight in just a second, not even 2 or 3 for that matter. Much less could 3 dogs achieve that in total silence.
A hallucination? Also extremely unlikely. My mind usually behaves normal to a degree it annoys me. Whenever I had friends who were claiming to sense supernatural stuff I sensed not much or nothing, much less did I ever see something. I have often been tempting my mind to give me hallucinations or see out-of-the-ordinary stuff, to no avail. I have never taken any drugs of any kind so far. Add to that I was mentally very occupied by just generally feeling fine, even a little euphoric due to the music I heard. It came right out of the blue.
So actually it was less like I hallucinated, and more like I just stumbled into these dogs or whatever they were so fast, unsuspecting and surprising that my brain had failed to filter them out of my perception. A mistake it corrected once I looked away shortly.

So, what do I believe happened? I'm honestly not sure, even up to this day. I had absolutely no other unnatural events or anything happen in my life. It's just that all evidence I personally have on this case does not allow me to believe in ordinary dogs or hallucinations as an explanation. It just won't make sense to me no matter how I turn it, so until I get a better explanation, I must assume I encountered something which was not ordinary at all.
To this day I regret looking away. I have sworn to myself that whenever I would find another seemingly paranormal thing, I would face it with an open mind and would not look or run away. I will look at it, analyze it and interact with it unless I feel an immediate danger to my well-being. Those dogs? No matter how I look back, they seemed a tad creepy, but ultimately harmless.

What do you think? Do you have any nice and rational explanation, or some psychological effect I might not be aware of? Or do you have some interesting stories to share yourself?
