2012: End of the world?

Yes- the world WILL end in 2012, no lie

. At least, that's what many people think. If you don't believe me, do a breif Google search and you'll see what I mean.

So, what are your thoughts about 2012? Will ANYTHING happen? What will it be like? End or beggining? Etc etc.

The world was supposed to end about once every ten years for the last thousand years. I think its pretty safe at this time to say all predictions of the end of the world are full of it.

Nothing. We'll stand around like it's Dec. 31, 1999, and then nothing will happen. It will be the greatest semi-hoax in all of human history.

Either that, or weed will become legal on that day and "the world as we know it today" will be changed forever.

It's just the crazies at it again. These kind of cult predictions have been made all throughout human history, it's really nothing new. There's no reason to think any huge event will occur. Just the usual trouble humanity manages to stir up.

2012 is really just a cash-cow, just like Y2k...it's all money money money....people even make money off of fear. Kinda sad. I brought into it too for a little while. But nothing bad is going to happen. It's messed up because people are so scareds of these things, one person actually committed suicide from the large hadron bomb collider thingy

If ANYTHING is going to happen on 2012, it's something positive.

2012 is supposed to be an apocalypse, from what I've heard, which is essentially a revelation, or a great revealing. That doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world, but it could reveal something that ends p destroying the world. I'm not sure what, but it could be something old (U.S. nuking Russia and vice versa) or something new (

)

I think the world is already ending at this very moment, but not in the sense that OH NOES IT THE END! but more like...this is the end of the 'good times', and the beginning of the dark ages.

I truly think we are already in a dark age, and it will continue for quite some time, but I believe the mayan's predicted a spiritual revolution/awakening around 2012, to break free from this dark age.

Or you can take the Terrence McKenna view and believe that's the approximate date of the “concrescence”, when humanity passes into hyperspace ("It will be the entry of our species into hyperspace, but it will appear to be the end of physical laws accompanied by the release of the mind into the imagination."). Of course, he was saying this in 1984, by now we can tell that if that's going to happen it won't happen so soon

Seriously can anybody actually define 'hyperspace'? Is it really anything more than a concept so vague it borders on meaningless jargon?

Comparing it to y2k is sort of completely opposite of what you say in the rest of your post. the "Y2k bug" was a real issue that could have had severe consequences if it wasn't for the fact that thousands of companies dedicated millions of hours of man-power to updating code that ran the global electronic infrastructure.

As far as 2012 goes, there is nothing to do but wait and see. I personally feel like we may already be seeing the early signs of a monumental change.

All I know is about what has happened in my life. Long before I knew what a prophet was--and I mean by definition--I became one. Not a prophet sent, just in training. What is to be, I do not know, I do know that what is written can indeed come to be, however, it is in metaphor which does not indicate specific methodology. What is certain, it is a psychological change in man--which is the whole point.

I, for one, hope it is true, that there will be significant progress in the psychological foundation of man. However, from what I understand, the Christian era was to be 1,000 years doubled and after this time, that doubled again, or 4,000 years in our future. The time scale, however, is just clock work, the real change is man's work.

Yes, are prophets self-proclaimed? Motivated by averice or madness, or is there a real definition, a definition that provides proof? If anyone really wanted to know the definition is quite objective and not hard to find, perhaps whole so called religions and prophets who led men astray would not have occured.

There is a world of difference between myth and reality. I would have thought that the principles would be quite clear to so-called religious leaders, however, these very same principles would leave them without a job.
