      Third hand information:

I heard in a lecture about shamanism that what the shamans said was: if they picked a mushroom and threw away the end of it, with the dirt, etc still attached, and then tried to enter the shamanic realm, they were told to find the rest before they were allowed access.

My thoughts are that if we were to talk about a spirit inside the mushroom or something spiritual linked to the mushroom, the "worldly" arguments don't directly apply - e.g. pain felt. Furthermore I would doubt that the mushroom is the spirit, or that there is a spirit living inside, but rather that it would resemble some kind of physical link granting access to whatever you want to call it, spiritual, non linear/dualistic realm, hallucinogenic, whatever. The devouring to me seems almost symbolic, in the sense of a merging.

The point I was initially trying to make is viewed similarly in this sense by many forms of buddhism, in that "nothing should be declined" - as in everything the world has to offer is to be (graciously) accepted. Which includes meat for example - and that's coming from a strict vegetarian.

I'm not saying that this is how it is, or what I believe, but how I understand it being meant.

Obviously, this is the mythological, experience orientated approach and not a chemical, objective one. While arguing, I think that people should be on the same page before it's really possible to reach any understanding. And obviously words like spirit or realm in this context are very blurry descriptions. But I wouldn't know how to be more precise. I guess clarity comes through dialogue and experience.

Well maybe it isn't more intelligent, but it has a different intelligence, and from this different intelligence you can learn something.. it was wrong of me to say higher intelligence.

Anyway, even if you do not believe that mushrooms are intelligent, they do change your perception of the world. And by just changing your perception of the world, you see the world through new eyes. Your own intelligence is nothing but your perception on the world, so mushrooms change your own intelligence. It is like they are borrowing you their eyes.. I guess it doesn't matter if the mushroom is alive or not.

What kind of visuals do you guys get on mushrooms? For me it's a wireframe I'm seeing, I'm wondering how it is possible, that many people I talked to, see the exact same thing? I'm starting to think that this wireframe might actually be underlying structure of reality, it could be "the aether". They could be electromagnetic waves.

Anyone experienced the same? In my case they are red lines tho.

I have, like a frame or wire work, I cant really define it, what you need to do is take it one step further. Because I am not a scientist, or a pharmacist, or a psychologist more correctly, I can not say for fact, but I believe that is the frame work that allows you to add the colors to everything. I really can not describe it, because when it clicked it all happened naturally and there was no forcing it. There was no telling of the mind to fill my world with color, it all just happened.

I point to shrooms, to that moment in time that changed my preception of the universe, when my mind opened and I became what I have always been... myself.
