I think that this is completely normal, you were probably just experiencing hypagogic imagery, which are images that you see as you start to fall asleep. |

I stumlbed across this site yesterday and I was so interested that I, ignoring advice, attempted to have a lucid dream without first practicing dream recall. I got into bed and started following the MILD strategies. I cleared my mind and felt my body begin to rest. I then started a countdown in my head that I could see. Starting from 10 and ending at 1 then I saw a fast blur of lines, like warp speed in Star Trek, blaze into my mind. I felt a wave come over my head, my heartbeat and breathing increased rapidly, my eyes started to move violentley and then it passed. I focused again and then I had no trouble focusing at all. My mind was clear and seemed very calm. I felt like my mind was shaking and bumping into something, I focused on the blood flowing through my eyes and could see very blurry black and white images that evaporated when I focused on them...like the atmoci bomb effect. I also woke up periodically throughout the night. Was this normal? I remember having one dream, but I do not remember being aware of the fact that I was indeed dreaming. |

Yes, I think that is just the onset of sleep. And I suppose that second part is normal too. |

I was just reading a post about a WILD and I think at one point I experienced the "initial" success of a WILD but I was too scared to continue, any tips on curbing fear and staying focused in such a case? |

Dont be afraid of those vibrations, they do not hurt you there helping you entering in another world jsut relax and focus on your image.. dont worry me too when I feel those vibrations I feel that my hearth beat is going extremely faster. Try again and eventually they wont scare you anymore and im begining to like the sensation of those vibrations |

yeah. people can experience some freaking weird things when attempting WILD, but don't worry it's all completely normal. in fact, I posted my first two WILD experiences, I'm sure you'd feel better if you read them. :D |

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
Ah, I feel a bit better. I am going to try it again tonight. I find this strange but the more I learn about lucid dreaming and the more I read other people's posts the more I realize that I have been in a WILD state before and maybe even experienced a lucid dream or two. Many a times I have woken up and been completley paralized and made frantic, powerful jolts trying to get my body moving again. This happened alot when I was younger, I can remember being paralized and trying to scream for help but no avail. I also remember waking up curled up at the foot of my parents bed, in their comforter. I'm not sure what this means but, I have always slept with the television on, and occasionally I will fall alseep paying attention. The voices coming from the TV no longer make sense, but I see it and hear it clearly. You know, I tried last night and woke up feeling tired but mentally rested, which is not normal for me. I am prone to mood swings and boughts of depression from time to time, but today seemed brighter then normal. Even if I never go fully lucid, I will be damn happy trying. |
