How did you first learn/hear about lucid dreaming?

I was on a site about dreams/paranormal stuff and it said something about lucid dreaming so I did some more research.

This is very similar to this thread but I won't lock it is because it is very slightly different. Somebody else can lock it if they like, I'm undecided.

I learned about it after having and remembering one. I had the dream and was thinking to myself I knew for a fact I was actually laying in my bed sleeping. After a shortwhile I felt I was "loosing grip" on the dream and woke up. After debating for sometime if It was a dream..where I was dreaming that I knew I was dreaming(eh) or if I was actually conciously aware I was dreaming. I searched the internet and found my answers. Tottaly thrilled with the prospect I sought out as much information as I could about making it happen regularly.

I never got too much into it at that time. I was younger and had other things I was interested in (partying and such) that disracted me from really honing my skills. I think at the time I could recall two a week but I didn't really try very hard.

I'm recently finding a renewed devotion to improving my skills.

I found out about lucid dreaming from reading Castaneda, but he didn't call it that. I practiced for several years before finding out from an article in a salvia newsgroup that it was called lucid dreaming.

A friend of mine who was a roomate at one point in my life was telling me how he could control his dreams and such and he would become lucid by looking at his hands in his dreams. At first I thought he was just retarded but then I did research like the rest of you and now I can WILD whenever I try and do it, thanks dream views

I found out about lucid dreaming about one year ago. I didn't know they could be controlled until recently, when another forum I post on linked to this site.

Seeker's thread is very different from this one, but I'm gonna lock this one because it is exactly like this thread.

er, that thread was last posted in last august and only had two pages. i don't think it's that bad, this should've been locked if that had had like 5 pages or something, but it dosen't, so i think i'll unlock this one - better not get strict about things.

heh, okay then. You have better judgement than me anyways, sorry about that.

EDIT: I think I may just delete these posts so it doesn't annoy reverie...

      NovaDreamer

Back in 1998 I received a catalog called "Things You Never Knew Existed" and in it was an ad for the NovaDreamer by the Lucidity Institute.

I ordered it and I had a lucid dream the first time I wore it.

      I've been hooked ever since!
