      Shift work destroying dreams...:(.

I am in a new job that is shift work into the wee hours because it's a bowling center. Does anyone have a quick fix for this?...WBTB? But I doubt because by the time I get home and sleep it's 4am...and sleep till 9 plus no dreams. Been 3 days with the job and no dream recall...except on the earlier shifts which ends at 11 pm so I sleep at 1.30 am. Had a missed LD on that one in morning dreams and that was it.... When it's later shift...dream recall is gone.

I used to have that problem a long time ago too. Try not to let it get to you so much....just get used to your sleeping schedule and your work itself. The dreams will come back, but not immediately. Just try to remember what you can, and take in the fact that everything you do could be a possible dream sign. I dreamt about work for a couple of months before i got the hang of it's repetition.

once again...just get used to your sleep pattern and once the recall starts getting back to normal, then worry about wbtbs. If you don't want to wait for that to happen, i would suggest trying them on your days off....ie, your version of the weekend.

Akono's idea is good, another way to get around this may be 2 use naps, I checked a small thread on this last week here:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=90457

I don't have experience with it personally but the idea is more than sound, and there's a lot of ppl out there that do it, the post by Aquanina on that thread is gud, and there's probably loads on this forum about it with methods etc.

You might temporarily take some melatonin in an effort to help you adjust to the new work schedule. It usually helps me with jet lag.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

I had the same problem too when I started working - but after a while it works itself out, you'll find that your body will adjust without you knowing.
if the hours you are doing are forcing you to sleep shorter, though, I am not sure how to help with that.

oh yeah I thought the title said "Shift destroying dreams" which is made me laugh

      Spoiler for shiiiiiift!!:
