      Vibrating/Buzzing .... strange

Hhm ok... I just woke up from a really long nap. It was filled with many long odd dreams, but I won't get into them because that's not the point of this post. Anyway, you know when you're trying to WILD and your body vibrates? I've never felt this because I haven't gotten very far in my WILD attempts.... but I think I just felt it in this nap (either that or it's something different(... and right in the middle of a dream. I might be wrong, but shouldn't you feel that sensation at the beginning of your sleep? Ok so it was in the middle of a dream, when I got a really strong electrical type feeling all over my body and a strong ringing in my ears. While this was happening I wasn't able to create a mental image at all... I was conscious throughout it and I was trying really hard but all I saw was black.

Why did I get this in the middle of a dream and not at the beginning? And are there any possible explanations as to what caused me to feel this sensation today? I don't often get this.

      Cheers,
      Dylan

I have been awakened many a time by this. It's sleep paralysis again, hitting up your dreamworld. I awoke from being abducted by aliens the other night, no joke (dream), and was in full SP after waking. My guess is that your conscious stimulus is more powerful during the dream than the chemical effect your body exerts to keep you still while in REM. -Torch

It could have been that some external event roused you up for a few seconds and your body was re-entering sleep paralysis. I've gone through the vibrational stage before in total blackness and know others that have done so as well, so that is probably pretty common as well.

Look on the bright side though, you now know better what to expect next time you practice WILD.

Hey D!! Glad to see your post.

Anyways, you should be thrilled by this. For me it's the key to lucid dreaming. I'm bored so I'll use a metaphor...think of this vibrational/buzzing stage as almost a terminal from which you can launch numerous lucid dreams. Seeker is right, something probably roused you from sleep just enough to take you into this stage without waking you up fully. When I nap to lucid dream I ALWAYS experience this...and it's the exact same thing that should be happening when you WILD. Usually I'll just lay down for a nap without even thinking about lucid dreaming, then once my body hits this vibrational/buzzing stage it sort of makes me conscious again and lets me know "ok in a few seconds you are going to be lucid". You just have to stick with it, through the blackness...and eventually your dream will take shape and you will be fully lucid. Usually then after the lucid I will go back to the vibrational stage/wait through the blackness, wait through the HI...until I'm lucid again. I will do this over and over for about an hour but it is really very exhausting so I don't do it any longer than that. Alot of times I'll wake up from a "marathon of lucids" which is what I call it, and can barely get out of bed b/c I'm sooo tired. I think it takes alot out of you physically. Anyways...good luck with the lucids!

It's SP for sure. The buzzing or ringing always seems to be associated with SP. I love the adrenaline rush I get from riding these out. Even though I've been lucid dreaming for over a decade, it has always freaked me out to ride out these SP feelings. I feel like I'm heading to a realm I will never come back from. But, strangly enough, no matter how calm I try and keep myself, the SP portion of my sleep is ended with me violently screaming--which comes out as a deep moan from my physical body. I can feel the moan, and slightly hear it, and am reassured by my girlfriend telling me that's exacltly what I'm doing.
