Some people go on "quests" for their Dream Guides, and some just luck into meeting them. I imagine that they could act like regular DC's and go on adventures and such with you, though.

Or is it something more? Is it actually part of ourselves that just showed up and only shows itself when it wants to? Do we only have one dream guide?

This part is debatable. A lot of people think that a DG is something a bit "more" than the average DC, and that this particular DC shouldn't be messed with too much. Personally, though, I take the stance that the DG is flexible (it being a manifestation of your subconscious, after all). I think I recall people saying they have multiple Dream Guides, too. And yes, I'm fairly certain that you can summon them, though it may take some effort.

I'm guessing the answers will vary extremely from person to person. whats your DG like?

Yup, it's a highly subjective and controversial area. I'd expect variety. My DG is very nice and sweet, and looks like what you'll get if you click the in my sig.

thanks for the replies guys. i just have a feeling DG's are more special then someone that you just decide one day, "im going to summon that one hot chick to be my dream guide" you know? i think its a lot more personal then that.. at least to me.

My dream guides are 100% fictionally based, and they share the same level awareness as I do. In some dreams I summon them, in others they appear spontaneously, and in recent ones they don't appear at all, and I've been getting along just fine.

But yeah. Nothing spiritual or 'nothin. Just fantasy companions.

Well typically a person only decides who their Dream Guide is on a subconscious level. Most people don't give an image to them before meeting them. Me and Mario both having recurring female DCs, but unless Mario's made some progress, both of us are only guessing that they are our DGs.

How did you find that out without having another LD? Just a feeling?

That, plus I've had a few non-lucids in which she's guided me...(won't be found in my DJ ). Besides, if I'm as convinced as I am that she is, in fact, my DG, then if I were to summon my DG in a lucid, what are the odds of it being anyone other than her?

My DG is a gym teacher from my school, who is kinda old, shes a girl but has short hair and looks like a guy, kinda. I've never talked to her (well probably like once), and no, I don't even think about her. SO WHY ON EARTH IS SHE MY DG??

Edit: Never mind, I just got what you were saying. I still think he should just get a new DG, but then again, I personally think that DG's are only special because you make them that way.

Personally though I prefer the theory that, whether we make them so or not, DGs are embodiments of our subconscious. Therefor, while we may be the ones making them important, they may be there to stay. Of course you could always make them change their appearance. Personally, as far as guidance goes, I thought mine would be more like Mortimer from 'The Hound of the Baskervilles', tall, well groomed, top hat, suit, and walking stick. I'd read the book roughly the time I found out about DGs, thus the image.

What I am confused about is, why did my DG take a form of someone who is not important in my life, who I never think about or talk to?

Maybe your mind knows something about it that you don't. Ask her next time.

And BTW, don't be jealous of mine. Unlike Mario's, it's more of a romantic relationship than a sexy one with. And the picture is just a slightly accurate one from the internet. It isn't based off of her.

To me, a dream guide is a dream character who is always "lucid" even when you are not. They are always aware of what is going on. They're very clever and can teach you certain things like how to teleport more easily. Unlike the dreamer, a dream guide can, say, teleport in the blink of an eye, whereas it's hard for the dreamer to teleport without spinning, using a door, or some other technique to anchor their focus and visualization. A dream guide tends to know a lot about you and will be able to give you useful information or advice about your life. And finally, a dream guide will be able to guide you through your dream world, knowing all the ins and outs of wherever you happen to be. If you ask to go somewhere else (perhaps from another dream) they should be able to take you easily.
