      WILD Problems

      Ok, question.

I've tried WILD the last couple of nites (mornings?) and I would be MADDDDDDD tired, and I wouldn't be up more than like 10 seconds to scribble down a quick fragment of a dream that I remembered, but then, when I tried to go back to sleep, and I was doing WILD, my eyes wouldn't stay shut. They kept popping open! Even though i was tired. And I know I wasn't focusing too hard, I was just, laying there. I wasn't awake enough to focus all that intensely anyway. But has anyone had a similar experience? I remember seeing bits of scenes and flashes of light and stuff, but then my eyes would start to open, and I'd try to close them, and then the HI would stop. Thanks for your input

      That sound kind of odd.
The only thing I can think of is that you are actually focusing on the images rather than just letting them appear, as what should be done.
Maybe this will allow you to relax a little more and not actually put mental effort to anything. Does that make any sense?

The HI will come if you are aware that is is there but when you put focus on any image it may be causing it to disapear.

Although you did say you did not focus that hard?????
Did you think of somthing outside of the images / like work or anything?

No, it was just kind of... I would think about watching them. Because if I don't think about it a little, I don't see anything. It's like my eyes just poof away and its just black... or something like that... Sometimes it comes without me thinking about it, but thats when I space out and don't notice it much...

      HI to me is underestimated.
There is a very fine line also as you noted about thinking about it a little or spacing out.
If I space out I somtimes end up in a lucid dream, which is not at all bad. but if I concentrate too much I never reach the level of hypnagogic imagery I am looking for. A state where images take place without thought rendering somtimes some of my most creative moments. More so than in my Lucid dreams.
When I become lucid my concious place too much of a role but in a perfect HI expireince my subconcious is the one in control.
Try to think to yourself as images begin to let it flow.

yeah, I got problems with WILD, too. I just can't get past the patterns you get when you close your eyes. I end up not sleeping at all or finding myself in the morning. am I supposed to stay awake with my eyes closed?

Same here, last time i tried, i was lying awake for 1 and a half hour. Nothing happened

But.... last night, not trying to WILD or anything, i pictured myself walking on a street i know from real life and im sure i almost fell asleep (or, going from awake to sleeping, it was pretty cool). Then that damn ticking clock dragged me back to consiousness. Damn clock

You have to try it sometime. While i was walking down the street i pictured a person walking past me, and it felt SO real... but then the clock... yeah, you know
      hey

I think you gotta sleep 5-6 hours before trying, cause your REM peroid is longer and you don't have to wait 1.5 hour until the next REM period.

Yea, I got that some problem. When I am falling asleep and having HI, my eyes start to open... So annoying.. Because your eyes, in it's most relaxed state is actually OPEN.... so stupid and contradictive to what is should be, closed.

Thats a huge barrior, i would have had thousands of more wilds if that didn't happen.

Its just like: You start seeing stuff and then you start seeing the real world and your eyes are open... and you snap out of it.

      It really pisses me off.

But yes, the only way around this is to go directly into REM... REM activates the mechanism that closes your eyes... If you've had enough sleep you can have a WILD more easily. Just wake up about 1hr 30min before you normally wake up.
