how long do you sleep a night? maybe you need more sleep, so you naturally sleep through your alarm clock. or you just need to turn up the alarm volume. or maybe you just need to sleep early. lol im not being to helpful... |

Since I've been working with some of the techniques discussed here, I've made great progress towards having an LD. My dream recall is better than its ever been, and I often remember 2 or 3 dreams a night. I've even been able to realize that I'm dreaming a few times (though this always seems to wake me up). The big problem I have is that I keep oversleeping though. I sleep right through my alarm, which goes off for an hour before it stops itself. As much as I like the dream changes I'm experiencing, oversleeping is getting me into trouble at work. Being late all the time is not conducive to keeping your boss happy, heh. If anyone has any tips on what to do to prevent this oversleeping, I would be very happy to hear them. Thanks in advance. |

Well, I normally sleep 7or 8 hours a night, though lately I've been sleeping 9 or 10, with those extra hours tacked onto the end, ie when I should be getting up. The alarm is set to the radio and is pretty loud, I rarely had problems waking up before.... I can certainly try going to sleep earlier, but that just strikes me as a waste of a perfectly good night, heh. |

Well, if you have a roommate/family member/whatever that lives with you, have them come in and beat you over the head until you wake up. |

A few times recently, I've overslept a lot (till 11, when I normally wake up 9:30 at the latest). When I have the chance to sleep in, my sleep schedule gets all wierd, I wake up a lot, and tend to oversleep. If you find that you wake up a fair amount, try figuring out how often you wake up, and then don't go back to sleep if you're dangerously close (within less than one sleep period) of when you would wake up. Alternately, set your alarm for early morning, and drink a lot of water. That should get you up. |

There's someone in my dorm room who can't seem to wake up to her alarm clock and I hear it whenever I go out into the hallway. My advice, get a new alarm, or switch from it being the radio. Another thing I could think of would be to consciously listen to the alarm and use autosuggestion to tell yourself something like "I will wake up when I hear this." Get your mind to associate the alarm with waking up. I don't listen to the radio much, myself, so I'm personally not used to hearing it and would wake up to it, but if you're one of those people who listens to it a lot, you may have just become accustomed to having it on. |

When I know Im not going to be able to get more than 6-8 hours sleep, I usually don't worry about having LDs -- I save that for the days when I know I'll be able to sleep in. I realize that doing it more regularly would probably help me have LDs more consistently, but this way helps keep me employed. |

Well autosuggestion worked! As I lay in bed trying to sleep, I told myself I would wake up when my alarm first went off, and I did. Of course, I hit snooze and fell back asleep, but I still got up in plenty of time |
