My family thinks that I'm crazy

My family thinks I'm crazy for lucid dreaming. They think its insane and that I should see a doctor. Last night I kept feeling that spirits or something were around and I saw a face move in the corner of my eye, and they think that has to do with how I lucid dream, and lucid dreaming is making me crazy. I already told them I'm not going to stop lucid dreaming. And how would they possibly be able to stop me from doing it anyway?

Just show them some information about Hypnagogic hallucinations and explain that's what you're experiencing. It's quite natural really. And while you're at it you could tell them about Dr. LaBerge who's scientifically proven Lucid Dreaming is real and not some new age mumbo jumbo

If they make you see a doctor he will understand and tell your parents.

Like Mancon said, go ahead and see a doctor. Make sure your parents are there with you so they can hear the doctor tell you it is perfectly safe and normal.

I doubt most doctors would know about it though. Sit down with them and tell them what it is. Show them this site (but not senseless banter) and tell them that LDs having nothing to do with magic, and are scientifically proven.
But anyways, why do you really care what they think about it?

I had a psychologist who knew what lucid dreaming was, and had a positive opinion of it. Any doctor is likely to share the same view.

One question: are your parents like super-religious? Some religious types like to think lucid dreaming is "new age" stuff and "new age" stuff is supposed to be a "sin" for some reason.

For people who haven't experienced a LD, it can seem crazy.

There are problably still dream/sleep researchers who deny LD is even possible.

Keep it to yourself. Share it with people who express an interest, not with people who think it is crazy.

No I don't think researchers don't think it is possible. There is to much evidence. Look at how many people on Dream Views have done it.
