      recurring dream theme, different settings

For the past 2 years or so I've been having this recurring dream about being chased by a man in whom I can't see his face and I don't know who he is. I't always the same I'm being chased but in each dream there's a different setting. The 1st time I had this dream I was in a large mall where I ran into the ladies restrooms and into a stall. Leaning against the toilet the wall swung back like a door to reveal a secret passage way that lead to a huge but beautiful hotel. The second dream I was in a large mansion and there were secret passages in that dream too. Same as the third and all the others. What bothers me the most is that I never make it to the exit which is where I wake up and also I don't know who's chasing me. Somehow I feel like I knew him at one time, but I feel scared and confused so I never stop to find out what happening. Is this possibly something from a pastlife, or is there something my subconscious trying to tell me? It'd be helpful if you gave me your opinion. thx

      Hi Marney,

I'm no good at interpretations, as I tend to deal with those sort of things by becoming lucid in them and confronting the issue at hand. It has the same effect on the issue in real life.

I'm sure some others can give some interpretations though

PS: This would be best in the 'dream interpretation' section. Perhaps someone can move it? Just a thought...

I've recently done some reading on nightmares, so here's what I've got to say. Recurrent nightmares are usually the result of your fear of the same nightmare happening again. In dreams, things we fear have a way of happenning, partly because we expect them to happen. More likely than not, this is just the result of that sort of thing, and not really any sort of message. If you want ot get rid of the nightmare, there are two methods, though basically the same idea. The first is to become lucid in the nightmare, and instead of running from your assailant, face them. Don't fight if you can avoid it; try asking them something, like "why are you chasing me?" Be friendly, and there's a good chance that they will do the same in return. The other method involved visualizing yourself in the dream, though you're actually still awake, and imagining how to create an alternate ending. You could confront the person as above, or devise some clever method of escape that you haven't thought of in your dream.

If you want to find out more about what is going on, the first method would probably be the better choice, since it would give you the chance to talk and figure things out.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

yea generally as an atheist and sceptist I would say past-life troubling your dreams are pretty much an enormous load of crap, but I guess if you really decide to believe that sorta stuff then thats your thing... but other then that, no. Its not your past life.
