natural lucidity
i was just talking to my girlfriend and she just signed up on this site. and i was telling her about WILD and the diff methods to induce lucid dreams and she was like oh ya i do that all the time and i was like really? i guess from what she was saying she is naturally a lucid dreamer...how lucky is that

Actually a lot of people are naturals and they dont even know it. Because they dont know what LD'ng is, they just think its normal.

It makes me wonder what it would be like to become lucid all your life...

Well I used to have nightmares and I would control them without even realizing what I was doing, I was about 8 or 9 at the time.
My nightmares were about being locked inside a grocery store at night and instead of a security gaurd there was a witch that flew around on a broom and patrolled the aisles. I would manage to evade her but I would always get caught in the aisle with canned green beans. :P Well I knew that if I stayed out of that aisle, she'd never catch me, so I did, thus taking control of my reoccuring dream and changing it.
Most natural lucid experiences like that are fear induced or "danger" induced. A lot of younger children have shown aptitude for it but as they become more aclimated to the adult world they lose this ability slowly. But not everyone loses it. Psychologists think it has to do with the shift in childrens' minds when transitioning through puberty. While some individuals maintain the natural ability to control their dreams others lose it, and psychologists aren't sure of exactly what causes this.
Some speculate that it has to do with the child's upbringing, and with their mental inclination, whether they are more left brained or right brained. I learned this from my psychology class, it was a debate we had not long after school got out. Just thought I'd share.
