It's really a matter of opinion and experience.

Most people seem to prefer the WILD. I would say DILD is the easiest as it doesn't require much effort.

start a dream journal and begin to do reality checks daily, my personally favorite reality check is the plugging your nose one, you ask yourself if your dreaming and then plug your nose and try to breath, of course you wont be able to breath but if you were in a dream you would still be able to breath and thats how you would know your dreaming . it will take some time but you will be a lucid dreamer yet!

If you don't mind losing sleep: DEILD, WILD, WBTB
If you have good memory: MILD
If you don't care when they show up: DILD

I like the MILD myself (it's working wonders for my dream recall), but it varies from person to person. If you have a little bit of commitment, I've heard of people being able to LD almost every night using both the WILD and the MILD techniques. In the long run, WILDing is the most dependable, but in my opinion, the most cumbersome. In the end, just do what works for you.

Yeah, I tried the WILD before going to bed...failed miserably. Have a link to the thread I started on that here.

Reality check like crazy! DO ONE NOW! No matter which technique you do, you need to keep RCing. Good luck!

Personally, I couple a lot of Reality Checks thougout the day and a WBTB after about 5-6 hours. I've had about 2 lucids a week with that method so far. A dream journal is essential too. I've been slacking in mine recently so I've went from remembering about 3-4 dreams a night to about 2-3.
