WILD Problem?
Hey. I have a problem regarding WILD and sleep in general. I simply can't fall asleep fast. It takes me about 15-30 minutes. One night I've tried to do WILD. I closed my eyes and started counting: 1 I'm dreaming.....x I'm dreaming....100 I'm dreaming and then back to 1. I did this for about 15 minutes and didn't fall asleep. I also can't sleep if I don't imagine something in my head. If I stay and think about nothing it just keeps me fully conscious.
Help....

I can only offer my advice as a successful meditator rather than a successful WILDer...
Do you do some stretching exercises before 1-100?
Do you unconsciously try so hard to relax that you inadvertantly tense some muscles in your body without realising?
I like the 1-100 counting method it really suits me. But what I like to do is say, pause every 20 just to enjoy the relaxation in the moment and not to put too much of an agenda on myself.
That is my two cents, my friend. I hope you find this useful.

When I WILD I let my mind wonder. I just imagine all sorts of random things and just passively watch them fade in and out of my "mind's eye". Helps me get to sleep faster.

Are you doing it in the middle of the night, after a few hours of sleep? It is very hard (nearly impossible) to WILD when you first go to sleep at night. If you are doing a WBTB, try reducing the amount of time you remain awake, or changing your timing so you wake up in a different part of your sleep cycle. You can also try to avoid bright lights and TVs/ monitors before you go to sleep. Do something in a dimly lit room for 20 minutes before bed, and don't turn on any bright lights, TVs, or computers during your WBTB.
There are a ton of little tricks to help with this. Google "Sleep Hygiene" and you will find loads of stuff.
