      A Fish Called Wanda

This may be the craziest thing I've ever said. For sure, it's crazy "out there", but will it be crazy here? If it is, I'm a newbie - forgive me.

I've been thinking if there would be any benefits to blocking your nasal passages with tissue during sleep. I can think of several:

Your sleep wouldn't be as deep and you wouldn't be as comfortable - your brain could detect something is up. (In my case, such awkward sleeping conditions have triggered FA in the past.)

It would probably make you very thirsty, because you're breathing only through your mouth. This thirst could help you wake up during the night after REM. (Affirmation: "I'll wake up after a dream when I'm thirsty".)

It would be easy to carry out a RC - you'd only have to close your mouth and see if you could still breathe.

You could condition yourself, by saying something such as, "I'll quench my thirst with that glass of water by the bed only once I've had a lucid."

If you'd accidentally fallen asleep after attempting something like FILD, you'd be likely to wake up again before morning.

However, one question is, by far, the most important question: would it be dangerous?

Yes. Having blockages in the only passageway air comes through (for most people) whilst you are sleeping is very, very dangerous.

Thank you, Jeff. I will not experiment with this approach.

I can't see how this would very, very dangerous. If you can't breathe with your nose you will breathe with your mouth, there's no way you'll just stop breathing and not wake up. I've sometimes stuffed tissue up my nose when sleeping if I've had a runny nose.
anyway, I'm not sure I see this method working very well though.

      This.

You will not just stop breathing if your nasal passage is blocked, you will most likely breath with your mouth and if not simply wake up.

Sounds like it would cause (as well as emulate) a stuffy nose. Do not want. :x

Would not recommend for people who have trouble getting to sleep. Would not recommend for people who dislike dehydration.

Breathing through your mouth all night is a great way to get a sore throat.

Haha no it's not dangerous, our bodies aren't that stupid.
What if someone had a stuffy nose? Should they stay up the whole night?

The method doesn't seem particularly useful though.

This was more so along the lines of what I was thinking about.
