      Interesting, but sounds farfetched

I have heard from some people that while you are in a lucid dream you can talk to other people you know who are dreaming and you will both be in the same dream together. It's hard to explain but basically you would both be able to recall the events in the dream you shared.

I also heard that a person can have a "precognitive dream" in which they can see the future to a certain extent, and that this is kind of what happens when someone who doesn't experience lucid dreams has deja vu. But if it is lucid you will know what is going to happen (little things and stuff).

I don't currently have lucid dreams because I only found out how to get them today and I still need to start working on my dream recalling.

Can somebody tell me something about the truth of these statements, maybe share an experience like I described?

Lucid dreams are one thing, but precognitive dreams are entirely another, I know.

I've heard basically the same as you... and met a person (anonymous for now, believe me whether you will or no) who told me some information about the world (that he'd found through lucid dreaming) in general that left me completely bewildered, and, dare I admit, a little afraid (though I am an atheist, I was brought up in a christian community).

That to one side, I think I may have had around two of those dreams.
I mean, I seriously don't know. But here's how it goes.
The dreams were very vivid and about two completely different things and situations. Neither were anything to do with me or my life.

At first I just thought they were ordinary dreams -- you know, every once in a while, you'll get a particularly real & vivid one.

However, (and I kid you not!) about a week later I was watching... a film. Yes, a film. I believe one was based on a true story? (who knows if that has any relevance at all -.-)
And during a five minute sequence, a scene played that I swear happened in one of those dreams.
It wasn't coincidence. How could it be?

The second dream played through a film roughly two days after that.

They say nothing happens by coincidence. I still need to be convinced that this isn't entirely untrue...

(I have actually written these dreams down in detail, right after they happened, as I was a little shaken by their vividness.)

According to Dr. Joe Berta of the University of Colorado, most cognitive psychologists think that precognitive dreams are simply you remembering a "hit." That is, you happen to have had a dream that happened later in real life (coincidentaly) and remembered it for that reason. You generally don't find dreams that don't line up with real life as significant.

Question: If you and a friend had a lucid dream in the same setting with the same characters and with the same series of events, wouldn't be like being in the dream together?
