How can you fall asleep with thoughts on your mind?

Hey ... you know with MILD or simple auto-suggestion you are supposed to be thinking "I will have a lucid dream" as you drift off to sleep? How can you do this?!?! I tried falling asleep while saying that in my head and I wasnt able to fall asleep for a couple of hours ... because my mind started going crazy and was thinking dumb stuff like "heeey maybe Im starting to fall asleep now!" or "Here come the delta waves ... hooraaah"

Any suggestions on how to fall asleep easily with an intention to lucid dream.

      Hey Tron.
My mind also tends to think to much and wander off when I am trying to go to sleep.
What you can try is a WILD. A wake intiated lucid dream. You go strate from a sentiant state of mind directly to a subconscious state. This may be an easier way for YOU than auto suggestion.

When I am thinking about dreaming and another thought pops up in my head. I actually picture a blank computer screen. As the unwanted thought arises, I click delete in my brain and just like a pop up Bang! it's gone. I have to repeat the steps over and over until my subconscious begins to take hold.

Sound a bit wierd but it works

Hahaha that sounds like a good idea.

I know all about WILD and tried it once ... but I couldn't even get to the hypnagogic imagery stage. How long does it typically take before you get the first wave of craziness?

That depends on how tired you are. I find if I am too tired the onset of (HI) - hynagogic imagery, comes qiuck. The bad part is I tend to fall asleep without any result.

Now if I go to bed not as tired it takes more time for HI to start, however it takes more resolve to inactivate you conscious train of thought. It is almost a double edged sword.
But I would choose the latter for it seems the ability to manipulate your thoughts from a more conscious state provides better results.

      Good luck.

Don't worry too much about HI, I've had several WILDs and have never experienced HI...maybe I'm wierd, but if it happened to me it could happen to you.
