writting stuff down or speaking it helps us remember it

      just a quick note

remember at school, how in eg history lessons, where the teacher would write loaaaaaaaaads down on the white board and make us copy it into our books and the whole class would think, 'why cant you just give us a sheet with it written down on'.

thats because we remember thinks so much better when we write them down or say them out load, it goes from our imagination to reality, and the brain is trained to remember reality and forget imagination, hence why we forget dreams.
with a dream journal, do you find that once youv written it down or recored it ona tape recorder, you remember it anyway, in doing so its no longer your imagination, your speaking it out load/ writting it down has made it reality.

so before you go to bed write about lucid dreaming or/and talk about it. maybe the osrt of lucid dream you want to have, what ever you want, but doing these two things, i find, is a whole lot better than just thinking 'i will have a lucid dream' in bed.

ok, that was rather a long note

Yes there are many ways for the brain to remember.

      1) Reading
      2) Writing
      3) Thinking back on things.
      4) Listening to music while doing task makes it so played music is paired with memory.
      5) Eating food while doing task makes it so eaten food is paired with memory.
      6) Smelling something while doing task makes smell paired with memory.
      7) Feeling something such as emotions makes emotion paired with memory.

The list literally goes on and all of these have been proven. When an action or event is paired with a memory. Resimulating the event can cause the recollection of the given memory that the action or event was paired with.

It sounds sound to me. Thats part of the reason people should keep DJs. They write down their dreams and their brain remembers al the dreams from then on.

another important part of a dream journal (which some people dont do) is before you go to bed look over/listen to it.
i listen to my dreams on a tape, sit back, take deep breaths, and it really does get me ready for sleep and puts me in the mind set for dreaming
doing this also helps us to DILD, as it can cause a previous dream to re-occour or it will at least cause your re-occouring dream themes to pop up which will help you to recognise its a dream.

ps, a quick note about dream signs, if you have a dream signs that arnt exclusive to your dreams ie, you see them in real life to. eg people on skate boards. when you see a person in real life on a skate board, do an RC, and seek out skate boarders, go to a skate park and everytime you see a skate boarder , do a RC.
this is very linked to what 'Brandon Heat' said

Good post, pond weed. Way to bring back the focus! I agree, writing, speaking, or typing it out helps you remember it more. Maybe if you wrote about lucid dreaming techniques and reality checks during a WBTB? The closer it is to your planned dream time, the more the primacy effect can aid you.

Yep, it's called 'state-dependent learning' if anyone wants to look up more on it.
