Thread: hand reality check technique

Trying all of them would be ideal. Those are all fairly popular. Although hand checks are not my favorite reality check, they have gotten me lucid several times.

Counting fingers is not a must in my experience. In dreams I just notice my hand looks different. Sometimes I know why (It has less or more fingers) other times I don't but it just looks different anyway (I probably just don't spend enough time to notice why).

I just count my fingers, I always have 6 fingers on each hand. This is one of my favorite RC's, I always pair it with the nose pinch RC in order to reducethe risk of it failing.

i am new and have not had a LD yet, im dream journaling atm. but iv written RC on both my hands in permenant marker (ie its always there). during the day i check it when i can remember. i look at it, look around me to think is this real, and hold my nose and try to breath.
i chose RC on my hand because

1. i always remember what it means, reality check and if i was to see that in my dream somthing might click.

2. it might not be there or it might change the second time i look at it, in which case i might realise that its a dream


is this a good technique
what about writting the word 'dream' on each hand. during the day when i check it i can do the nose thing, but if ina dream i check it and read the word dream, that of all things is probably most likely to get lucidity

look at your hand, you dont need to count your fingers, it doesnt take a genius to figure out that your hand looks different(or else the saying "i know it like the back of my hand" would have no meaning)

in my dreams, my hand has more fingers but my extra ones sort of morph out of my original ones as if my hand was normal before i looked at it. thats the best i can describe it.
