      Morning wake ups!

      Hiya everyone,

Since the summer lucid dreaming has been on my mind, but because of school i thought i would never get around to really devoting time to it but just recently trough pure luck i woke up an hour early for school so instead of stay up i went back to sleep. Little did i know that i would have the most vivid dream that I'd had in a very long time. For about a week I've gotten up early and went back to sleep to try this, and 4 out of 5 days I've had pretty cool vivid dreams.

Now the setback, when i wake up i feel like absolute shit, as apposed to when i sleep through the night and i feel halfway decent in the mornings. How i feel aside, does doing this impair my thinking power (so to speak) During the day? Should i be limiting this or does it not effect me? I really want to go at this every morning, but I'm afraid I'll be sleepier, less alert or energetic during the day. I'm basically asking about general sleep, does waking up then sleeping for an hour effect me in any way?

And opinions on getting up in the morning for LDs? As effective, more effective, less effective than 4-6 hours after sleeping (for me around 3 usually)?

As long as you're sleepy enough to go back to sleep, it'll work just fine
You might find the quality of the LD is different, but try it first

BTW, if you're doing WBTB and waking up feeling shit, then you're just setting your alarm for a bad time ... adjust it out by about 15 minutes one way or another.
If you woke up from a dream state after 6 hours, you shouldn't feel so rubbish unless you're forcing yourself out of deep sleep. Which isn't right.

EDIT: Let me elaborate on why it'll work fine, before someone flames me
Firstly, it's partly a matter of how much rejuvenation you need. Your body gets it's fill of slow wave sleep first, hence the reason why you don't bother trying to LD for the first 6 hours.
Secondly, it's a matter of circadian rhythms (eh wha?) .. that day/night adaptation that most of us have ... at night you're drowsy, in the day not so much (hopefully)
This also results in less slow wave sleep and more REM

I'm with PSP on this one. You'll be fine, since it's later in the night.

I feel good when I get up earlier than I need to (and go back to bed). I'm grateful that I can enjoy another hour and a half of sleep (and there is a promise of lucid dreaming!).

Doing this seems to get good results with almost everyone
