Okay, well I've been trying various techniques for about a week or so (not long, I know) and my dream recall has improved dramatically as a result of all the waking up during/after REM.
Last night, I had the following dream:
I was in the big fancy concert hall and my friend was there. She sat down in a chair and started to play an imaginary violin - but I could hear the music. Suddenly there were a lot of other people (whom I've never seen in real life) there, and one of them pointed out to the that there were signs all over the walls saying "NO SPINNING". I was a bit confused and asked why, to which the reply was that they didn't know.
Then I was suddenly on a trampoline in the hall, whilst the music continued. I attempted a full turning jump, fell off and landed on my head (but it didn't hurt much). Then I woke up.
Basically, I remembered when I woke up that spinning is a technique suggested when people want to know how to stay lucid. So perhaps I was a little bit closer to an LD than all my standard dreams? If so, damn my subconscious for playing a trick on me, making me unable to spin!!!
