      Accessing memories while dreaming

When I used to have vivid dreams I noticed I couldn't remember things from real life. I would know I was dreaming but no matter how hard I tried I could not access memories at will. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I've had something like that happen. I have false awakenings a lot after lucids, and during one lucid, I tried to remind myself where I was sleeping in real life, because I normally FA in the wrong place. I remembered the wrong place. I don't think it mattered, because I think that was the dream where I got woken up by a sales call...

Lucid dreaming has a paradox. You remember what to do when lucid...your about to wake up. You don't...your far from waking up...sad fact of lucid dreaming.... Reason being this...nearer to waking conciousness the more you'll remember. Unless you can find a way to get lucid earlier by some external cue or wake yourself up and do DEILD or dream rentry bringing along your memory of what you want to do.

I can access any memory I want during LDs. I have no problem remembering that I was going to sleep and whaever happened during the day, etc.
Willing to talk about/listen to anything you have to say.

My experience of bringing intentions into the lucid dream is very similar to what imj describes. Frusterating! That is one reason I've gotten so good at DEILD!

Many things are easy to remember in dreams -- how many sisters I have, what town I live in, my job, what car I drive. However more recent or less permanent things are SO hard!

But do they last long enough for you to do anything? What tech did you use..DEILD or WILD? Can't be DILD.

This is pretty alien to me. When I am lucid, I can basically remember my waking life as clearly as I can when awake. Of course, the clarity varies, as it does when I am awake - if I am awake, but groggy, my memory will be less responsive than if I am awake and highly alert, and the same goes for lucid dreaming. I am including both DILD and WILD here.
