Today I had some friends over and we got into a short discussion abot dreams. One of my friends said (to make a long story short) that inbtwn REM periods, you can get a feeling of falling, and if you hit the ground, it shocks your heart and you die. This didnt sound right to me, am I right or am I wrong? |

How would he know? |

What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?
Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?
actually, hes right. this has happened to me about 4 times. |

I thought so. He said he had the falling feeling once but he woke up before he went splat. And anyways, how would they know the person died because he hit the ground? |
|
It sounds like he's talking about something people often experience while in sleep paralysis, a feeling of falling. It's just a perception that your body has, your body isn't even actually moving. Ask him 1) what ground is it that he's hitting in between those REM periods, the soft mattress of his bed? 2) where he heard this, as obviously the only people who know are already dead. |

Someone watched the matrix one too many times. |

What he's referring to is a Hypnic Jerk. Contrary to popular belief, you won't die from one. |

This guy,, and this guy,
, are mine. BACK OFF!
You can't die purely from sleeping. It's a myth. |
