In my lucid dreams, I have often tried turning into my namesake; but it has never worked properly, and by now I think I am subconciously expecting it not to work, which makes it not work, and fuels the expectation. Does anyone know how I can break out of this loop? |

Just drop it all, and start again with something completely different.

You could try a whole different method of transforming thats "bound to work." How about drinking a potion from a mad scientist, or some kind of machine, or being exposed to radioactive waste and gaining shapeshifting superpowers? It make it LOADS easier when you have a "logical" reason for you to transform.
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?
Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?
