The first few times I began having LDs I didn't know what they were. When I was dreaming I would suddenly experience an extremely loud pounding or throbbing that felt like it was actually my brain throbbing and then I would begin to LD. When I would start to lose lucidity, that loud throbbing would come back and I would wake up. It was quite strange at first and I was worried that something was wrong with my brain, but it has since stopped.

Also, several times I would wake up and my arm would be completely numb, maybe from laying on it wrong? I would be in the middle of an LD and I would be able to feel that my arm was going numb, and I would make myself wake up so I could change positions. Is anyone else aware of things going on around them physically or otherwise while in an LD? The first few LDs I had in my dorm room while napping during the day and I could swear that I could still hear my roommates and even partially open my eyes to see them without ever interrupting my dream.

One time, this was strange, I was having an amazing LD and I felt that my arm was going numb, so I eventually decided that I needed to wake up and move it. So I did. Only to realize that it was a false awakening, and when I really did wake up, my arm wasn't numb at all! Very strange.
