Yes, a thousand times yes!! Looks like people really need to educate themselves on how to properly conduct surveys. Any statistic you might find with a survey like this would be utterly, completely useless.

this poll doesnt really represent a correlation by race.

to get usefull "correlation" with a race u will need to get the ratio of natural LDers to non natural LDers in a certain group.

hence you should have had a poll yes or no to natural LDer per race.

for example:
there are 20 people from group "A" that read the thread and participate.
only 2 are natural LDers

so 2 vote. 18 dont respond.

when you get this 2 it says nothing about the correlation with the group.
it just says 2 people out of an unknown amount who read the survey are natural LDers(which is useless data). You will want to know 2 out of 20 people are natural LDers in group "A" and you can say that 10% out of this group are LDers. You can then compare this percentage with other groups.

And like someone else already said, even if you had a proper method, you will need a ton more people to participate than those will probably respond to this thread to get anything close to a good survey.

Yeah, besides, the number of racial groups is too varied, there seems to be a large amount of Persian and Arabic members on here.

You can't get an accurate sample or an accurate result from this poll.

To begin with, what is your total population of people included in this poll? For instance, if you say I think more people like cats than dogs and then test this theory with an internet poll on a cat site then what does that really say? It would be much better if you random sampled individuals that represented a better view of the total population. Or using that same example if you said I think more people like cats that are female then go to a cat site and post your poll (the site btw is 88% female) guess what your results will be? It would be much better to go out in the population and test an even number of males and females in various locations. This makes for a more accurate poll. Are you following the examples?

Taking this a bit further your poll doesn't account for multi-racial individuals which do compromise quite a large number of individuals and it doesn't touch on all the possible major ethnicity groups and also has a wrong term when talking about ethnicity.

You might want to look into what "race" it...is a social construction.

This right here. Race having anything to do with dreams is bloody unlikely, hell I'd say the idea is retarded. On the other hand though, culture can have a great impact on your dream habits and your abilities.

Hypothetically, if you were part of a culture in which dreams are looked at as evil say, you probably wouldn't remember too many dreams, and if you did, you would more than likely suppress the dreams rather than explore them. On the other side, if you look at a culture like the Dunne-za* tribe, who's belief system is founded on dreams and dreaming, you will find people who dream frequently, have fantastic recall, and purposefully do certain activities in dreams (in what I would bet is lucid dreaming).

*I believe that was the name of the tribe, but anyway, if you want a good ethnographic work, of a culture that puts a lot of significance in dreaming, check out Trail to Heaven. It's not written like your average ethnography either, it has narrative, and a certain style that I enjoyed.

I second Arby's reaction to this thread.

If anything, I would think there could be slight differences in the dreams, like if a black person(from Africa or something) and a white person(Somewhere north) had exactly the same life, then possibly they could have different dreams... But I don't think it's anymore than that.

Meh, actually, everyone thinks differently, I don't think it's possible to find differences related to the race.

Oh, and ofcourse, /facepalm

Although, it is well known that Oompa Loompas have the best dreams.

Kidding, but isn't this poll useless if there isn't an equal number of races polled? By this poll, I can guess white people are the best. Yet, that really doesn't mean anything if white people are the majority in voting.

And no, this site is NOT 88% female. Anyone who has been active here for longer than a week would know that. That's another thing - people can screw around with online polls and lie.
