The most common interpretation is just someone that has experience with lucid dreaming, without having heard about it, or the techniques to obtain it, from an outside source. |

i have heard this term mentioned in many threads but it often has different interpretations. i have heard it is someone who just has had a lucid dream before knowing what it was/trying to do it. i have heard it is someone who rarely has NON-lucid dreams. i have heard it is someone who just has lucid dreams come very easily. this seems like a stupid question but can anyone clarify for me? |

I would probably define a "natural" as someone who needs very little effort or intention to obtain lucidity, it just happens for them spontaneously. Not like for the rest of us chumps who have to work our nads off to achieve even the most remote success. Of course it's very subjective, every different individual has a different struggle, some really hard (like mine) & others seem to get it a lot easier. So I guess the term natural can have a varied meaning, but basically it boils down to "easier than for the rest of us". IMHO. |

Everyone used to be a natural lucid dreamer when we were kids. All my friends could choose and control their dreams themselves when they were kids. It's a natural skill everyone posses from birth. We just forgot how to use it. |

Yeah, it's a pretty gray area, because I do agree Phydeaux, as well.^ |

I only disagree with you because he said "natural lucid dreamer" which if you dissect the phrase, means someone who naturally has lucid dreams. So if you were saying that someone who has frequent lucid dreams, or that they come easy, I would say a "naturally proficient lucid dreamer" or something like that. Just saying someone is a natural lucid dreamer, doesn't indicate whether it comes easy to them or not, but that it naturally occurred. |

personally i saw it as someone who had a lucid dream without trying to, but now i don't really know. i think we should have a giant DV meeting to define the word/phrase. |

I consider a natural to be someone who has always lucid dreamed and has to put little effort, if any, into becoming lucid. |

I cant stop having lucid dreams, cant remember when i started having them, never even thought of what types of dreams there are until someone told me about obe's. |
|
Interesting. I always thought a "natural" was someone who could induce lucid dreams at will. I guess I was a little off. |

i don't know but i don't really have to try that hard to have a lucid dream and i had them before i even knew what they were so i think myself a natural. |

I/m a natural, and most children are. Highly imaginative people tend to be. |

I've always had lucid dreams but not frequently or with lots of control. When i found DV i realized i'd begun to WiLD the year before which was weird, but I still dont have great frequency or amazing control, but i dont even keep a dream journal, I just remember them in my head. |

I believe I used to have "natural" LDs as a kid...but I seemed to have lost this ability due to the stress that came into my life soon after that period of time. I'm not sure if defining a natural lucid dreamer is as much about how often they LD without effort as it is how in tune they are with their dreamstate. Perhaps they are more aware of their surroundings and have more intuitive capabilities compared to most us, which allows them to recall certain feelings they experience in dreams, hence making them lucid without effort. |
