Sinking down? Right.
i would agree, you are very close to attaining the LD! good job!
FYI... this is my general WILD process (although I don't think about this process at all when WILDing...). i think it is important not to try, just be. but i will admit, before i had my first WILD, it was very helpful to hear others tell me what MAY come for me. so here goes....
1. "my eyes are closed and i know i am awake" - the eyes are clearly still the focal point of my consciousness. i feel itches, etc.
2. "my eyes and body become more meaningless and i am conscious" - the visuals are still similar to stage 1 but become decentralized to my eyes. more just part of my brain, i think. body feels lighter and i no longer feel basic itches, etc.
3a. sometimes "hypnagogic imagery" - the visuals become... well almost like i would expect someone on LSD to have.... lol. like flashing lights, or tunnels. sometimes dream snippets will pop up and then go away fast.
3b. sometimes "hypnagogic sounds" - the tinitus or humming in my ears will become quite loud, in stages and can include bodily vibrations.
3c. sometimes "sleep paralysis" - intense weight felt on body, lack of feeling everywhere. so peaceful...
3d. sometimes "floating up" - my dream body can float upwards starting with my feet and then my hips then my torso. this stage is usually a dead-end for me, but it could be thought of as an LD too.
4. "the LD" i have never sucessfully tried to step into a dream. it has always failed me.
i have learned the best way to make it to the LD is not to react to any of these items, but rather... just be. also... don't get scared... and don't actually try to WILD or try to do anything. some LDs for me have came just going from stage 2 to 4 directly (or so i perceive it this way). i wish that always were the case!
sorry for all the boldiness.... i just can't stress those words enough. i have had many more failed attempts than sucessful WILDs and i can attribute many of them to these faux pas. just don't take this, or almost anyone's advice as the definitive guide for everyone. allow yourself to explore! i hope i helped. enjoy!
