My family (at least my mother) is as uninterested as uninterested can be, my mother even tells me to not talk about it. My friends who know about my lucid dreaming are interested, some even have them now and then.

My mom tells me to do something productive with my time even though I already play guitar and paint <.<. And I've only told one of my friends and he's really interested. We started dream journals the same night .

Well you should tell her she should do something productive, LD'ing is alot more productive then an ignorant person who is not open to explore their own conciousness, exploring yourself is the epitome of productive use of time

how are you wasting your time according to her?

your already sleeping, why not take advantage and LD? tell her that and then we'll see who's the productive one

My wife thinks it's somewhat odd. She's one of the lucky ones who gets lucids without trying (although not as much as when she was younger), and finds them annoying. But she also understands my desire to have better contact with my un/sub-consciousness, especially since most of my life I had almost zero dream recall.

How can someone find lucid dreams annoying?

My question exactly, whats annoying about them? you can control your dream, I just don't see how that could be a burden lol

She says she's never had control, or even thought about it. Just that sometimes she'll realize she's dreaming and will want to see how the dream ends, but then gets annoyed when scenes shift, etc.

From her description, it sounds like a relatively low level of lucidity, where you realize you're dreaming but don't really appreciate the significance of that realization.

When I was younger, before I really knew about lucid dreaming and what you could do in them, I had several lucid nightmares that I couldn't wake up from. That wasn't too fun.

Well TBH I can see where she might be coming from. I had LDs occasionally before knowing what they were and almost always woke up after a few seconds. That can be very frustrating if you are having a really good dream

I have told my boyfriend about LDs and he kinda just looked at me like I'm weird. Would have been nice to be able to share it with him but oh well

I also told one of my friends from WoW who is big on meditation so I figured he might take to it really easily. As far as I know he hasn't tried it out. /shrug.

I told two of my friends and one of them does it naturally and the other was interested and thought it sounded cool. I told my sisters one of them was really interested and has given kind of weak attempts at it. The other sister doesn't really understand why anyone would want to do it.

I don't think she's lying. Like I said, she's never had control; in fact, she said she never even thought about the possibility. She's just had low levels of consciousness where she realizes she's dreaming.

I agree with your mom. You shouldn't be wasting your time on lucid dreaming, you should make your homework in your sleep instead!

I have yet to LD but I have experienced HI, and I told a few of my friends about it (Some very ignorant close minded people I might add). And they both thought it was awesome and I told them to Google it.

One said they made it to SP, the other has yet to try it.

My mom thinks that I'll get mental problems... one of my friends says that he doesn't want to do it because he wants to go along with the storyline. I don't blame him, because his dreams are freaking crazy...
